Who’s upgrading their t-case? Price, install and ratio questions answered.

I dont think it is the fix for all 392’s…I don’t even think it is the fix for 10% of the 392’s. But, some folks will push what the stock case can handle and need an upgrade…and some will upgrade b/c they want to. I probably fall into the latter category. I dont know the number, but would be interesting to know what percentage of Jeeps go off-road. We bought ours to off-road and so far we have with trips to smorr, hot springs and Moab With KS Rocks planned for January, Palo Duro in April, Colorado in July, etc. I will move to 1 ton axles and at that time will most likely install the Atlas in an effort to proactively strengthen the case and potential cost savings with buying driveshafts once.

Do you mind letting us know:
1. what shop?
2. what did it cost? Any breakdown of parts. I think a DTCM from a 4xe is required.
3. What ratio?

thanks
1. Lifestyle Garage in Lakeside CA
2. I think my price was 8600 including labor - it took quite a few more hours than they anticipated. Next Venture full skid plate to remove just for access etc. Doesn't 392 and 4xe have the same stock transfer case and DTCM?
3. 3.8:1

No, 4xe DTCM has a 2wd/RWD setting. Which allows the computer to not freak out when you run the atlas in 2wd.

we spoke with advanced adapters multiple times during install and they never mentioned changing out the DTCM

Don't see an update for JL's or the 392

This touches on the reasons. It is why you have a service 4WD light on all the time.

And let me correct what I said. Getting a 4xe DTCM is not correct, that was my thought to enable a 2wd setting in the mp3022 in a 392. So you want a non mp3022 DTCM.

Z automotive got back to me with what settings to change once the DTCM is swapped. I finally pulled the DTCM today and went to order a regular rubicon one but there are three model numbers from 2022 for the rubicon. Dealer said they have no idea the difference, they just order by the VIN. Any ideas?

This is the pic from the JL forum thread. Try this P/N?

New DTCM installed. The jeep now knows 2wd and 4H but not 4 low. Stock sway bar disconnect and lockers still not functioning correctly. I guess time for an sPOD and just wire directly to avoid jeep computer.

Have you used JScan or similar to enable them?

I have the tazer mini and that should allow sway bar disconnect in 2wd etc and the elockers in 4H. Sway bar works most of the time. Elockers are very picky with no rhyme or reason to when it works vs does not.

You need something to set the correct settings with. JScan will.

What are people paying?

I’m going to get a quote tomorrow for shits & giggles. Disturbed the clutch packs are still working in 4L.

Call Steve @ Adams 702 568-5680 - I was at their Las Vegas shop last month to order my 1350s.
He is VERY familiar with the 392s and different lift configs, probably don't have to measure-
