I’ve never ordered a vehicle so I’m not sure how the financing process works. Did any of you have the financing done before the Jeep showed up or did you do it when it arrived at the dealer?

just finance at the dealer, unless using your credit union.. then you can do in advance somewhat at some places...

Yep, I've financed with my credit union before. You go there before you pick up your auto. The CU cuts you a check in the amount you're paying for the vehicle which you just pass on to the dealer.

If you do it through the dealer it's obviously all done at the dealer when you pick up.

If you're getting any kind of deal (like a lot below MSRP) through your dealer, consider checking with them. Some will request to at least have a chance to compete with your credit union for financing in exchange for giving you a good deal (my personal experience).

We are within a few weeks and have started looking at various auto loan rates. I think I read you can shop multiple lenders to see what your rates you qualify for. My understanding is that even if there are multiple hard credit pulls within a 30 day period it only counts as one because you’re shopping for the same type of loan.

That's correct on the credit pull, counts as one so you can shop. I do mortgages and it works the same way.

I applied for a loan about 30 days out from delivery of vehicle. Rate was locked for 45 days. However, the dealer (Granger) actually got me a better rate so went with their offer instead.

Definitely see what the dealer can offer.
