There's this button under the steering wheel... I really don't know what its for. Obviously looks like lights, but it doesn't seem to affect anything... anyone know?

That definitely looks aftermarket, it could be a switch for power steps if you don't have a light bar or any other type of aftermarket lights.

There is no switch in that place in my 392

Ok, thank you … I wonder if the importer added this during the ‘get it through uk regs’ stage… will have to ask them.

More than likely a GPS receiver. Most importers/exporters want to keep an eye on the vehicles location during transit for insurance liabilities.

ok, mystery solved. I just heard back from the dealer who has said its for the UK fog light system

Do they add "additional" fog lights? Don't understand why the factory switch doesn't cut it?
...and if they added, they could've at least used the AUX switches instead of drilling a hole in the dash, IMHO.

I believe in some part of Europe there is a rear facing red fog light.

Yes, here in the UK, we have a rear fog lamp. They're so bright, and really annoying when they're left of lol.
