I like the way Jay Leno explains large displacement normally aspirated engines in his vintage cars. Basically those big engines stayed in the 1,000's RPM normally that's why they lasted 90 years. Yet unlike those big old engines where 3,000 RMP was "the end of the world" in our 392s the end of the world is much, much farther away (6,400 RPM if you're wondering). Ever once in a while I have to let the Big Dog eat and take 'er on past 3,000 RPM. My mechanic calls it an Italian tuneup. Shakespeare calls it: "Cry 'Havoc!' , and let slip the dogs of war."
In the end a small 3.0L (by comparison) Turbo V6 will be "fun while it lasted". We on the other hand will be feeding Premium fuel to this big dog for a long, long, long time. But there can only be one Big Dog, and once again there is no replacement for displacement (except maybe electricity).
Bronco Raptor vs. Wrangler 392... Jeep won. (we won)
