Well it’s official Raptor has less HP and Torque then we do.

Not great estimated mpg either. I was never even remotely in the market for one, but I am sure happy with what I got in comparison.

I'd say 418 HP from a 3.0 EcoBoost V6 is pretty awesome! There are a bunch of cars/SUVs with twin-turbocharged V6 can output 400+ HP. The Nissan GT-R V6 has 500-600 HP, kinda insane.

If you also consider that the 3.0 is just the 2.7 bored/stroked… it’s not an engine I’d trust. Have you seen the dropped valve issue? And how do you make an already weak cylinder weaker? Bore it and stroke it.

There is just no way around very high cylinder pressure with a heavily boosted small engine. More wear and tear. The hurricane is going to be whipped even harder with 500hp from 3.0. Crazy stuff. How many of these will be around after 200k miles?

Of course, I've never kept a vehicle for 200k miles. My wife has, but I like to get newer upgraded stuff. I can see keeping the 392 for 200k or more miles though. Most awesome vehicle ever!

This is great news! The value of our badass V8 Wranglers continues to rise!

I like the way Jay Leno explains large displacement normally aspirated engines in his vintage cars. Basically those big engines stayed in the 1,000's RPM normally that's why they lasted 90 years. Yet unlike those big old engines where 3,000 RMP was "the end of the world" in our 392s the end of the world is much, much farther away (6,400 RPM if you're wondering). Ever once in a while I have to let the Big Dog eat and take 'er on past 3,000 RPM. My mechanic calls it an Italian tuneup. Shakespeare calls it: "Cry 'Havoc!' , and let slip the dogs of war."
In the end a small 3.0L (by comparison) Turbo V6 will be "fun while it lasted". We on the other hand will be feeding Premium fuel to this big dog for a long, long, long time. But there can only be one Big Dog, and once again there is no replacement for displacement (except maybe electricity).

Bronco Raptor vs. Wrangler 392... Jeep won. (we won)

I think we don’t know anything about winning and losing (so much tribalism…) until folks have actually driven the thing. I for one *love* the engine under the hood of our 392XR - but it is not perfect. Is old and is very heavy, but it is a V8 and man, did they nail the exhaust. That, plus the one touch top deliver more smiles from this guy than I thought possible, but that doesn’t for a minute make me think that the BRaptor isn’t going to _also_ be awesome. Why they chose the 3.0L, I cannot fathom, and I sure would have liked to have seen the 3.5L from the f150 Raptor (with the new exhaust), but they’re not dumb and I’m sure we’ll see that the package is impressive. Will it be amazing enough to make me pick up that key over the 392’s giant, easily stolen and copied key, that I remote cold start as I’m walking to the garage far to often just so I can hear it? We shall see!

This... just like the Hellcat v. ZL1 v. GT500 and the TRX v. Raptor is a horsepower war. And it is a war that we (Mopar) have undisputedly won (again). It's not about "perfection" or how much it makes us smile (although I am 100% positive a 418hp 3.0v6 with 2 or even 4 turbos could never make me smile as much as a 470hp naturally aspirated V8) or even which one is better off road, per se (although we will likely win that war, too). Most of us on this forum have multiple vehicles because we like different things about different vehicles, so we drive what suits us on any given day. But if you're looking for raw horspower and an undeniably magnificent sound, you will ALWAYS grab that big, fat, ugly Jeep key if it's sitting next to the key with the My Little Pony logo on it.

I really wanted to like the Raptor. I like the aesthetics. I drove one and reminded again why I don’t prefer Ford. Albeit, was the TT V6.
I love the design though. Just lacking on the thrills department.
I would probably go for the TRX a over the Raptor.

As you should.

I absolutely abhor the exhaust note from the Raptor (or quite frankly any V6). I like everything about my current Rubicon but the engine. I tried so hard to like it, but I just hate V6 engines... I pretty much always have. I won't deny that the 87 Buick GN/GNX was a legit contender with the turbo 3.8, but I still hated the way they sounded and much preferred V8 G-bodies.
