The VIN on my 392 is printed on a sticker in the drivers side door frame, near the recommended tire pressures sticker. I initially thought this is the only place the vin appears on the body of the Jeep. I was thinking if someone rips the VIN sticker off, that would be very worrisome if it wasn’t etched on somewhere else.
Lo and behold, I read the manual and it said “The VIN is found on the left front corner of the A-pillar, visible from outside of the vehicle through the windshield.” Sure enough, it’s there on a black plate attached with two rivets. So the VIN appears in two places, which I think is good. A common thief might see the door frame sticker and think that’s it. But surprise, there’s another easter egg with a VIN on it ha ha.

Fun fact, almost every single car on the road has a vin plate in that exact location!

"A move to create a more systematic VIN scheme was made in 1968, with the enactment of Federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS) No. 115, which took effect January 1, 1969. That standard required each passenger car to have a VIN that is permanently “sunk or embossed” on a part of the vehicle visible through the glazing by a person standing at the left windshield pillar."

Check it out next time you're in a parking lot, you'll see everyone's VINs in plain sight now that you know where to look!

There are also vins stamped all over the dang place in modern cars, (from engine bay, to frame rails, to trunk of car, to many parts) and also datadot markings that identify many parts that make up the vehicle.

You will also find it stamped on the frame rail on the passenger side. Most vehicles will do both body and frame stamps along with the door stickers.

My 2006 LJR has the VIN on interior plastic parts, I bet my 392 does also, I just haven't had them apart yet.

On most vehicles that sticker is on every panel, helps show they weren't replaced from an accident. However high end shops will recreate them

Hey, I’ve only been driving 35 years, gimme some slack.

Have you ever hand washed your car? :ROFLMAO:
