2021 Rubicon 392
I ordered my granite 392 with half doors on Oct 6 and as of today the dealer says its on a train traveling through Alabama to be in Florida tomorrow. I have no idea how much longer until I can pick it up but I feel confident I will actually get it now so I am using this as a placeholder for a build thread. I have a 2006 Unlimited Rubicon (TWO DOOR) so the 392 will be mostly street for a while. I have a few accessories already on hand and will go with 35's as soon as I get it. Cant wait!

What part of florida are you in?

Im in Fleming Island, southwestern part of Jacksonville. My order is from a dealer close to Tampa.
Well I guess I won't be seeing yours in the wild.... I'm near New Smyrna Beach.

Jeep is at the dealership. I will be there when they open tomorrow!

We took one box out so my buddy could ride in the passenger seat while I test drove. The drivers seat could not go all the way back with stuff behind it. Once I had officially made the purchase we took it all out and into a truck.

My wife and I will be needing to ride home together (7 hr drive) after picking up my jeep with 1/2 door option as well(assuming it will ever arrive) - what is possibility of unboxing the doors and safely transporting them back with room in the jeep if we were to do that?

You could definitely do that. Wrap them in moving blankets. I had a truck with me and I wanted to keep the boxes so I did not need that option but that would work as long as you dont have a whole bunch of other stuff with you. The boxes for the front doors include upper and lower in each box and they are absolutely massive.

I drove mine from the dealership in Michigan to Southern Arizona (2200 miles) with everything still packed inside. Had to ship my suitcase that I flew to Michigan with home Via UPS because their was not enough room in the passanger seat. I did keep some change of clothes and other essentials out that fit in my backpack in the front seat and passanger foot well.

What was your experience like on that drive while taking into consideration all the break-in procedures? I'll be doing Des Moines>Los Angeles (about 1700mi) if I don't cave and have it shipped.

Would you do it again or think about shipping? Any break-in procedures that really cramped your style for the few hundred/thousand miles?

I was fortunate to have friends that I could visit with in the Macomb (my old neighborhood) & Clinton Michigan. Spent several days visiting and was able to complete the first 500+ mile portion of the break-in before hitting the road home. Yes I would do it again, it was a great visit and very nice road-trip home visited several friends en-route.

That explains it. I tried to get half doors and soft top and they wouldn't do it because there wouldn't be enough room in the car to ship it...

That is correct. It is much easier to get a soft top later on than it is color/key matched half doors.
