Has anyone found an upgraded horn system that they like, without doing the air compressor/train horn thing?? I'd just like something that matches the sound and feel of the 392 compared with the base model Sport. LOL

I've tried two different sets from Amazon now, and they are either the same, or even worse than the factory ones. (n)

PIAA makes great aftermarket horns. Check out this video:

Here's a great comparison audio clip of the PIAA:

Just make sure you get the superior base pair (one 330 one 400 Hz versus 500 or 600 pairs)

That's when this is your second horn:

And this is the "second" button...

Are these plug and play, or do they need rewiring?
Any of the aftermarket horns will require you to cut the OEM connector off the wires and crimp new ends on the wires. No other changes are necessary.

Just wire it up in the same way as your factory horn.
I’ve decided to forgo the PIAA horn upgrade for a couple of reasons:

1) I'm OK with the strength and tone of my 392’s dual (FIAMM AM80SX) horns

2) Listening to the comparison audio posted by YukonCornelius (above), I find the PIAA horns “startling”, which is IMO not something that helps in stressful traffic situations -- it’s kind of like the difference between a “shout” and a “scream”; both get their attention, but one might elicit the wrong response

3) I wasn’t looking forward to removing the front grill to access the horns nor was I looking forward to cutting off the weather-resistant OEM connector plug.

All in all, I’ve lost the desire to upgrade the horns -- plenty of other mods to pursue -- more to follow.
