Hello all!
I finally got my 22 sarge green 392XR.
I’ve been on vacation in Yellowstone and haven’t got to drive it much yet!
I absolutely love it! I order 10/09 and picked it up May 25th.
Really starting to wonder if I should have gotten the skytouch! I was 55-45 on it, but opted for the top to be able to fully remove it. As I’ve gotten older, the skytouch looks very easy.
So I’m thinking of selling or trading my 22 and ordering a 23.
Problem is they have went up a lot, and I got a great deal on it. I was price protected from the first MSRP.
So I’d be paying 3k more for the 23 with skytouch.
What would y’all do?
Thanks!

So hard to answer since we’re not in your shoes. I switched from a 22 nonXR to a 23 XR. Paying the extra was worth the money to me (Both orders have sky one touch on them).

You’re in Georgia. How much rain and such do you get? I live in PA and it makes sense to be able to get a top on and off quickly due to storms that roll in or when it gets colder in the evenings during spring and fall.

IF you could somehow find one, you could try a conversion. At least one person has done it:

They claimed the damage was $2000.

If you do get a sky one touch, you can remove it. It’s a pain, but you can. There is a you tube video on it. However, if you do take it off, you can’t put a traditional top or soft top on because the windshield header won’t have the loops/latch points on it.

@Turboencabulator was going to replace the header to one with the latch points I believe so he can take sot off and run a soft top. Not sure where he is in the process though.

We have spotty showers and thunderstorms all spring and summer, so skytouch makes sense here.
I’d be paying like 6K more in the long run to get a 23.

I thought about this lol, but I did so much to my last Jeep, I got tired of wrenching!
I want something from the factory on this.
It’s a tough decision. I’ll probably just keep the hard top and get a soft top. I wish I could decide!
I wish the 23 had something like Uconnect 5 and 37s, that would make the decision easy 🙂

So it’s been such a beautiful day that I almost thought about starting a thread about how stoked I am that we have the Sky One Touch top (SOT for short). 🌞😎👍
I was debating getting it but my girl said “you get the 392, I get the Sky One Touch top” so I got it. But I grew up driving my FJ40 “naked” all summer in high school so I HAD to have a soft top. Everyone knows naked is the only way to go.
After watching Brandon Haneline’s video showing how to remove the SOT I felt confident I could remove it (I’ll put the YouTube video below) so I needed to figure out how to install the soft-top latches. I did (I’ll eventually post details) it’s not too hard but defiantly requires basic mechanical aptitude. I added a SOT switch. Then re-installed it.

I bought the Mopar (BestTop) soft top and tested it out. Removing the SOT is not hard but I needed somewhere to store it so I put it back on til I could figure out permanent storage for the SOT (top, back glass, quarter windows). I’m planning on using a winch to store it in the rafters of my garage, but I’ve been too busy to do the carpentry. But You can defiantly add a soft top to the SOT. Will it void your warranty? If you leave the soft top on there and bring it to the dealer… sure. But just swap it back out, takes 45 min. There are no tamper seals, no one would ever know😶‍🌫️. But the SOT seems to be very reliable and well designed. It defiantly doesn’t leak. I would buy it again in a heart beat. In fact I now kinda question if I should have bought the half doors and Soft top…. 🤨 blaspheme. Nah… I’m glad I have both. But I greatly undervalued the SOT. I use it every day and we love it! I can’t image owning a Jeep without it (or a 392)😁👍

Posts like this don’t help! 😄
Makes me want a skytouch bad.
I’m so torn, but a 23 will be significantly higher.
Thanks for your input!
