Hello 392 Community,

Last year at age 22, I bought my very first truck. A 2021 gecko green gladiator rubicon holdover model for 61,300 sticker. Over the past year I’ve been regretting not getting a Wrangler. The past couple months I’ve been looking at Wranglers. Due to the crazy car prices right now a Wrangler with all my wants; front trail cam, led lights, headliner, 8” touchscreen, painted fenders, leather seats, blind spot, steel front bumper, etc… is pushing north of 60,000.

So I figured a 392 wasn’t too far off from the price of a non 392 Wrangler. When looking I wanted the XR variant 392 in white. Unfortunately they quit the XR package at the time I wanted to order one. So when the 20th anniversary came out I ran to the dealership and placed my order.

I like it has the XR package just not thrilled about the 20th anniversary decals.

So I’m Torn. I do have my gladiator paid off and the dealership has offered 45,000 on trade. So I would get the 20th anniversary for 45,000$ off sticker price.

What would you do? Keep the paid off gladiator, or take it to dealership and trade it for the 392 20th?

I should’ve bought a 392 before the gladiator. Ima lose 16,000 :(

You can probably guess the answers you’ll get being a 392 forum and all.

Why did you regret not getting a wrangler? What do you use the truck for? How much does mpg matter to you?

$45k on a trade is pretty fair. Market value on a ‘21 Gladiator with 12k miles is $42-47k. Private party isn’t significantly better at about $45-50….

And considering that you can still grab a 20th anniversary 392 at sticker, to me it’s a no-brainer. Plenty of dealers jacked up the price, even on orders. if I was on the fence, it’d be 20A all day long. Granted, it’s not me we’re talking about, and I can’t speak for your financial situation, but you’d be the coolest 23 year old, that’s for sure!

BE CAREFUL!!!

It was brought to my attention this weekend and I am trying to confirm it that the regular anniversary, non AEV, are Recons but don't get a 4.56 gear????

Has anyone else heard this?

Personally if I were you I would get a 24 with the upgrades, the axle and the screen are reason enough.

I was alos told the anniversary would get new grill but no interior upgrades

The 20A comes with the 27T package, which is outlined in the pic below. 4.56 gears are listed, and I can’t really imagine the XR package without the lower gears.

My 20A better show up with 4.56 gears, or the deal is off!

I TOTALLY AGREE 100% and the 4.56 is listed right there.

I think what you heard got messed up somewhere. I suspect that someone confused the AEV edition info. The 20a 4xe AEV upfit gets a gear change to 4.56, the 20a 392 upfit does not, because it already has the 4.56 gears.

I think someone has confused that fact into "the 392 does not get 4.56 gears".

It was confirmed today as my anniversary is built and it does have a 4.56 gear. I don't know who is worse, the dealers or the manufacturers reps

With the changes in 24 and believe it or not many people hate the gold accents and white and red are actually a very popular color combination even though some don't care for it. I think the anniversaries are going to be a semi flop. 24 they are offering red interior. They already come as a Recon so where is the uniqueness that is going to make an anniversary so special?

The last anniversary in 2013 they had the unique hood, again the red interior, and a couple other small items but they sold strong for a few years but they didn't sell at numbers much higher than a non anniversary.

The v6 Gladiator is the fastest depreciating of the group so I would make the move to the 392 for sure, at least you will have a Jeep that is super fun to drive.

If you decide that you want to stay conservative I have a 21 white 392 with all the goodies and 8 year 125k extended warranty and half doors that I will sell you a lot cheaper than an anniversary. It's a late 21, I chose it over another 22 I had because it was not governed at 90 some miles per hour like the 22's. I personally think that you might lose less on a used 392 that you buy right over a new anniversary. I think the 150 AEV anniversaries will bring all the money but there are 100 people out there that have more money than brains, there aren't thousands of them. It has 8k miles on it, pedal commander, Tazer, Baja Designs lights, Mopar triple hoop bar, and if you want I have a Warn 10k synthetic brand new in the box that can go on it if you would like.

I was young once and if I had all the money I lost in depreciation from all the cars (over 100) I would be driving a Bugatti lol.

We don't know what these anniversaries are going to do, interest rates are up, new 24 is new and improved, I say they do fair to midland so treat them no different than Rubicon and whatever you do, do to pay one penny over sticker for it.
