This isn't making the wait any easier but it's nice to see more information on the XR showing up on the interwebs. Do I tell my wife that our fuel costs are going to significantly increase while I go through the lead foot stage or let her be surprised?
Haha! I gotta make a list of these responses to cycle through. The other take away is that the wheels aren't bright gold like the configurator. They look to be the same color as the 17x7.5 wheels just more bolts on the ring. I can't tell if they are still using the Fox shocks or not though. It's called "hide the cash" or "honey, I also bought food with that fill up!"![]()
I certainly HOPE so! Be severely pissed if they downgraded to the standard Rubi XR shocks just to accommodate the tires. Can't wait to get my hands on it!I can't tell if they are still using the Fox shocks or not though.
Oh man! You are right. There is this TikTok video as well showing the shocks during the short walk around to the back.
So I watched the Willys XR reveal video. They did have a 392 XR and not very good shots of it. At 3:46 I caught this glimpse. Sure looks like red on white, which is what the standard Rubis have versus the 392 black and gold Fox shocks.
(really hard to see in the screen capture)
God I hope I'm wrong...

I think they are still Fox shocks, just inverted.
Still wondering if they're actually faster than a regular 392?Here's to hoping you are correct!

I think they will be a little faster due to the gearing . 4.56 overcompensates for the jump from 33 to 35 inch tires by about 15%. The rolling resistance will be more, but not enough to offset the gearing. Just my thoughts. I won't be able to resist getting the livernois pcm and tune when I get mine and when they come out with a good positive displacement supercharger for it, I will have a hard time turning that down.Still wondering if they're actually faster than a regular 392?
WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT WILLIS???

It does. If pull up the fuel economy screen on the instrument cluster, 4cyl will light up when it goes into 4cyl mode. Most reliable way to get it to go into 4cyl is drive 30mph or so on level ground with very light throttle. Also does it off throttle sometimes going down hills.Does the XR 392 even have the cylinder deactivation? I've never seen/felt it go to 4banger mode...
It's the same MDS (Multi-displacement system) engine. And I remember some here mentioned that even Off road + mode does not prevent 4 cyl deactivation. Check this thread out: https://www.jeep392.com/threads/more-driving-impressions-for-those-still-waiting.784/Does the XR 392 even have the cylinder deactivation? Love thisCurrently I own both and I have to say the 392 is an incredible piece of machinery.
The Recon is just plain retarted!!
I ordered a pedal commander for it and did even bother to install it.
When I get pretty aggressive with the 392 I get some torque steer and I am reminded that I am driving a 500hp Jeep thats on stilts.
The recon on the other hand is TIGHT and RIGHT and I dont get any torque steer and the power is everywhere and the 4cyl light never comes on.
The regular 392, not so much, but still amazing.
Footnote: I am a car guy, I modify everything like a maniac. European daily drivers are pushing 7-800hp and lbs of torque so my bar is very high.
