The Off Road/Trail Pics & Video Thread

Is that on the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route?
It is. Recommend if you have the chance. Lots of great little towns / stops along the way. I picked it up at section 2 and drove through section 5 (started / stopped in Bozeman, MT). Happy to share the route.

Amazing ✌️

Little coilover action going with those 40's and Currie's. Nice!
What lift and how long are coilover shocks?
Hi Tank,

Here is a short clip from that trip. https://www.youtube.com/clip/UgkxXZVC36rlvTRFZe5Q1_FB7kuV3g62udVJ

I'm running the EVO-Spec 2.5" King coilovers, with 14" of travel, as well as King Air-bumbs. All of my other lift components are from Rockjock, steering is PSC, and the axels are Curry Platinums (Dana 70's). I have a bunch of other things... but there are too many to list.

I do get full travel out of my shocks... but it took a lot of re-work to get there when I moved from 37's to 40's. Most notably:
  1. Change out my rock rails so I could clear the tires (turning)
    • RockHard to Evo
  2. Change out my skid plates so I could clear the front driveshaft (side-to-side articulation/oil pan skid)
    • RockHard to Next Venture Motorsports
  3. Notch the frame of the Jeep and move the shock mounts (front axle) so my shocks could cycle without binding (did it after the trip in the video)
  4. I still need to fit/modify my AAL fender liners or figure something else out... but my stereo is next on the list. I went with the MB Quarts setup, including the sub!

Short clip of the kind of stuff we get up to here. Looks a lot smaller on video than in real life lol
Cool try and do that in a TJ with 5:13 gears . Just not going to happen. These are almost like King of the hammers Jeeps . Well almost

Can’t believe your Jeep didn’t stall out because of no airflow. Cool picture
I'm guessing probably not enough. The scoop is blocked, so airflow into the engine is reduced. The grill is blocked, restricting airflow through the radiator. The question then becomes how much airflow loss is acceptable. Since you're having issues with overheating, I'd guess it's blocking more than would be ideal.

She was getting intake air. The issue it cooling. I’ve had oil temps to 285 in the snow.
Elevation? I know in Colorado, elevation over 7-8k feet, operating temps would rise, regardless of air temp.

That’s not Colorado snow because: (1) everything stops when you get up to your frame and (2) AAA won’t come get you and (3) you may not live if you go off the side of the road 🤫

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the safety police and it is a lot of fun… but it is extremely common for us to end up recovering a group or two that are stuck and completely unprepared…

but they’re mostly Tacos, Broncos, and Subarus… and we go on Sunday… so I guess we’re really doing the Lord’s work 😇 and snow-wheeling is our opportunity give back to those who are less fortunate!

Hallelujah 😈😈😈

I’m aware it’s not Colorado. I asked about elevation. I lived in Colorado, off road there, etc. Did my fair share of recovering many people. Do you often assume people don’t know?

I’m assuming you misread or misinterpreted my tone and/or my sarcasm because no offense was intended 🙃. I was only commenting on the characteristics of our snow and how I would probably slide off the side of a mountain and die. My apologies to you 👍

Oh, and apologies to Taco, Bronco, and Subaru owners… and possibly the Lord🙏. All the vehicles mentioned are all very comfortable and historically much more reliable than Jeeps. ✌️❤️🤘

I also feel the need to send out a general apology to Bud lite drinkers, on this forum, for anything I may have said or implied under the ‘Zipper Lube’ thread. 🍻
