The latest victim of “supply chain shortages?” The manual transmission?

Not that this impacts the 392 by any means, but per the JL forum, dealers are reporting that the 6 speed manual isn’t available to order. Just another symptom of the supply chain woes.

Man, my luck keeps getting better! My 2020 Rubicon that I’m replacing with the 392 happens to be a manual!

well, if rumors are true, she’ll probably pull in some premium $$$ ! 😀

Jeeps are a different animal but over the years I have had a hard time selling vehicles that had a manual transmission. I've never owned an automatic that was available with a manual.

I’ve never once had a hard time selling a manual. It’s probably because you’re buying the wrong cars in manual. For instance, I couldn’t replace my 2009 CTS-V manual right now if I wanted to! If we’re talking about pedestrian crap boxes that are manual simply because manual made them the cheaper option, then sure, but when a vehicle is supposed to be manual (like a Jeep, in my opinion), I have found them to bring a premium and to be harder to find. I had to search out of state to find my loaded 6-speed Rubicon a year ago and I imagine they are still more difficult to find with EVERY option except an automatic trans. Plus, there are still some purists out there who do not want a turbo 4 cylinder or a hybrid Jeep which really leaves them one option unless they have the means to get a diesel or 392… and that’s a V6 manual like my currentJeep! 😂

Yep. I think it depends on the vehicle a bit. Too many youngins don’t even know how to drive them, so on more everyday vehicles they don’t seem to be very desirable.

‘Niche’ vehicles are a bit different. I have a ‘14 FJ TTUE. A fairly rare bird. I’ve seen TTUE manuals fetch a premium since they are one of the unicorns in the fj world. There were 2500 TTUEs made. I think I remember reading somewhere that either 250 or 500 were manuals.

Yeah, let’s just say “youngins” aren’t really my target market for a fully loaded Rubicon, so I feel ok about my odds. But I’d love to see that FJ!

@KungFu392

Here she is in my driveway. Totally stock. 47k miles. I’m probably letting it go when my 392 gets here, but it is a great ride and a total tank.

In general, I’m not a Toyota guy, but there are a couple of their “flagship” vehicles I am a fan of and the FJ (and the old school FJ-40s, etc.) and the Supra (MKIV) I’ve always loved. That should be an easy one to sell!

I’m also probably letting go of an 04 TJ Rubi manual when the 392 gets here. Oh the sacrifices…😂

PM me pics and details on that one if you have a chance. I had a 98 TJ and have considered getting one for my daughters. They want to keep my JL when I get the new one, but that’s not gonna happen! 😂

Can do. Photo below. It‘s in my storage unit but taking it in for inspection soon. Bought a few years ago with 80 some k miles on it. I’ve put 1k on it at best. It’s modded obviously.

Anyway, really interested if anyone else knows anything about this supply issue. I have a friend with a jlu manual she was thinking of trading in on a new one, but she will only buy manuals.
