Hello all,

I am curious to what you all think about running 35s vs 37s. I do not plan to due major rock crawling with the 392... Moderate to hard trails. Planning on running a 3.5' lift kit. I currently have the 392 XR package which runs the 35' KO2s

Something to consider ...

If you put a 3.5" lift on your 392 XR and keep a 35" tire it is going to look like it has roller skate wheels on it. 35s are going to look way too small after that lift is installed. You don't have to change tire size right away though, just put the lift on and see what it looks like. Then buy 38s. :)

then after the 38s you will look at 40s and realize thats where you want to be!!(says the guy on 38s)

Stock height looks great with 35s, if you're lifting it you'll definitely want to go bigger.

I've got 3.5 lift with 35s. The front wheel arches do look a bit empty. Rather than going 37s I might just change to a 2.5 lift to bring by center of gravity down and avoid re gearing. Bigger tires also tend to be more sluggish in the sand

It doesn't need to be rock crawling to consider a larger tire. You mention "moderate to hard trails..." so the larger tire may be a necessity depending on your definition of hard. The benefit of the larger tire (air'd down of course) is fairly significant on grip/traction, ride quality, etc. Just my $.02.....

Larger tires are the only way to get better differential clearance. Or🤔🧐
Portals!

As I am "shopping" for 40s, I have found 10+ threads where I clearly stated that I would never go 40s...

I'm going 38s too:giggle:

Happy with Clayton performance springs and 37” BFGs. Actual 35.5”.

IMHO The XR package should have come with 37’s. The BFG 37 is actually only 36.5 so if you lift it 3 1/2” go with the BFG 39. Heck, it’s only 38.5”. The 392 has plenty of power to pull these with 4:56 gears.

I'm looking at BFG 39s now. Got a question for the rest of you as well. Will 17x8.5 wheels with 4.25" backspacing allow enough tire clearance at full steering lock so that the tire doesn't rub the frame or lower control arm? Fender clearance won't be an issue. I am changing to Next Venture high clearance aluminum fenders and inner fender panels.

40s going on Wednesday. MotoBilt inners and Quake fender Chop kit should arrive sometime next week. I am really trying to keep the stock fenders.
