Anyone else having a black screen problem after unmarry and latest firmware update?

Yikes.
Smess can you post up any replies you’re getting from the zAuto folks?
Also, which version of firmware were you running?

I'm so confused. I'm not that knowledgeable on the Tazer. I have one but only to tell the Jeep it's on 37's. I've had it on for about 6 months and I haven't updated the firmware on it. It's tucked behind my dash. I just wanted it for the tire size. Would I need to unmarry it before taking it to the dealer? I only use the dealer for the first 3 oil changes bc they are free, beyond that my Jeep shop does it all. Obviously if I had issues I'd take it in, but I don't use them for service. Is there soemthing about the warranty being voided that I should be aware of?

I ordered a part for $29.95 and in the comments/remarks section I said I DONT WANT THIS PRODUCT, I AM ONLY BUYING IT SO YOU WILL READ THIS AND THE GLITCH REPORT I SENT BECUASE YOU DONT HAVE A PHONE TO CALL AND YOU DONT RESPOND TO EMAILS. THE LATEST FIRMWARE YOU HAVE LEFT US WITH UNMARRIED TAZERS THAT MAKE OUR RADIOS GO BLACK AND MY TECH TOLD ME IF I COME IN AND THE START DIGGING ON THIS ONE THEY MIGHT FIGURE IT OUT AND VOID YOUR WARRANTY. I SAID I DONT WANT THE PRODUCT DONT SEND IT, KEEP THE MONY AS MY EXTORTION PAYMENT AS MANY BELIEVE THAT THEY CHARGE THE $50 TO RELASE THE TAZER REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU UNMARRIED IT OR NOT.

WELL, I AM BEGINNING TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND THATS IT

THEY ARE GOING TO LEAVE US WITH 90K JEEPS WITH VOIDED WARRANTIES OR RADIOS THAT THEY ONLY CAN CONTROL BECAUSE THE RADIO RUN THE VEHICLE AND MANY VERY IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF IT.

I DO KNOW A POSSIBLE WORK AROUND, I WILL HAVE TO TEST IT MYSELF FIRST AND THEN EXPLAIN IT.

IN THE MEANTIME I SUGGEST WE LET ALL FORUMS AND JEEP OWNERS KNOW NOT TO BUY A TAZER AND DONT UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE PAST .5 AS THAT IS WHEN THE BLACK SCREEN STARTED

I got an email from them saying they got my order and it shipped, they dont give a shit.
Everyone keeps defending Joe, I think he is selling as many units as he can and then selling that company because is latest violation of Federal Law with the driver door opening feature is going to end him in a lawsuit for sure.
Smess,
Help us help you. Your OP is a rambling incoherent mess. What is the exact issue that leads you to believe there is a problem? Please explain without drama what is going on with the product. Take a deep breath and just tell us the facts.

It can void it potentially.
I don’t take my pedal commander or Tazer off for oil changes but I always bring donuts and tip my techs.

Huh? What's the issue? The Tazer has never been known to brick vehicles, ruin radios or void warranties. I'm sure there's a logical explanation for this...

The $50 unmarry fee is only if a Tazer is used and wasn't unmarried from one Jeep so it can be re-used on another. If it was unmarried it can be used again without any limitations.

You do know Z Auto has an email address, text number and facebook messenger for support right? Ordering something and adding a note will likely not even be seen...

Are you Joe, the Tazer company owner he referred to? If so, welcome and happy to have you here. Would be awesome if people can ask questions. I have one but I know nothing about it. I just know my shop used it to tell the 392 we put 37's on it. I have an XR and went from 35's to 37's and I felt a huge loss of power. They used the Tazer to tell it that I had 37's and the Jeep came back to life. So thanks!

That would be me. I don’t generally pop up on the forums as I’m not a vendor therefore any promotion of my product would get me booted. So I’m not here to sell anyone anything! Just here to provide some support and answer questions…
Very happy to hear you like it :)
I’m in my own 392 at the moment, which I vigorously put through the wringer as I test out the Tazer functions. So if anyone finds an issue, I’d like to know about and rectify it.
I’m still not sure what this post was even about. We don’t have record of any customer service requests that we can correlate to this.

Awesome. Cool product thanks for having it out.
My 392 occasionally seems to go into dark mode…while I’m driving at night. …
I don’t lose dash lights or the center console screen though so it’s not true dark mode, just exterior lighting.
It cycles back on within a few seconds, but the shut down (lights turn off in sequence) reminds me of dark mode and it’s the only time the turn signal lights / daytime running will turn off without actually activating dark mode.
Lots of fun. Anyone reported anything similar? Nobody has on this forum.
Edit: I also am not sure it’s the Tazer so I haven’t posted about it here before, or was waiting until I did some more troubleshooting to be certain. When I have unmarried and removed the Tazer a few times I don’t have the issue but it’s pretty intermittent anyways so can’t be sure.

Dark mode can be engaged (if I remember correctly) from a button remap. Does this happen when pressing one of the 3 cruise buttons? Could be you accidentally have one remapped that way.
If you’re in motion it would cancel automatically so yes it would go dead and come back a few seconds later.

Thanks Joe I thought that possible. It’s typical on long road trips (1500mi) after fueling up and turning the engine back over and pulling onto the road.
There’s a chance it’s a remap and it crossed my mind.
How do I check what’s mapped ?
I do have the pdf of the manual if you have a suggested page to review.
I do wish the PC firmware updater let us view and/or map these shortcuts instead of the menu in the Jeep.
Either way thanks for the product and reply.

Hold the right arrow and tap one of the cruise buttons and it’ll show you what it’s mapped to (no function meaning it’s not mapped). Hold that right arrow and keep pressing the cruise button to change its mapping.

Thanks again, I’ll give it a try.

Yes, if you go to dealer and they plug in to obd2 which they always do your done.

DO NOT UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE

the newest firmware update has made it so when you unmarry you get a black screen.

it could be the beginning of the $50 extortion you pay to unmarry, it appears that way.

ask him why when you unmarry your tazer your radio goes to black and when you go to the dealer they say leave it for a few days and we will dive in to it.

was that the understanding you had when you purchased it?

I would highly suggest not leaving it at the dealer in that case.

so you are tazer for life I guess or maybe if you pay the $50 extortion you will get your normal screen back.

I dont mind paying the $50, what pisses me off is them not responding to the email.
