I have an XR on order that comes with the factory tailgate reinforcement. I am looking to upgrade to 37's and I'm wondering if I'd need to upgrade this tire carrier as well? Anyone run a larger tire with the factory one without issue?

You and I are discussing this in another post, but I know the folks in here will chime in with good recommendations.

I don’t think you do for 37”. I think that’s max size though. Let me know if you are getting rid of xr wheels I would be interested.

My non XR with the tailgate reinforcement has a 37x13.5x20 on it. It started sagging at about 7500 miles. I noticed when closing the tailgate some paint rubbing off on the bottom of the door frame. I already had the Teraflex tire carrier so I just recently added the Teraflex Hinge reinforcement.

What do you think of the hinge reinforcement from Tera flex?

I noticed the ability to adjust/shim the tailgate up when installing the Mopar reinforcement. Perhaps loosening the bolts, adding lock tight and re-torquing would solve the sag problem?
