Yesterday, I was first in line at a red light when a Z28 (from the 2000s) rolled up beside me, heard my rumble, and started revving its engine. The moment the light turned green, he went—wheels spinning, tires smoking—while I watched, and pulled away from the light normally.

Please tell me this isn’t my new normal.

I doubt it is the new normal in any way. Just ignore them if it happens again, like you did. Hasn't happened to me in almost 2 years.

I will usually entertain them depending on what pulls up. Even on 38s only a few cars can beat these Jeeps red light to red light
