Greetings All!

Last night someone stole my Baja Designs LP4s from the A-Pillar Mounts. !!!!!!!!!!!!!@@@@@@@@@@@@##########!!!! My 392 was parked right in front of my house in Huntington Beach, California. We live by the beach and unfortunately have only a two car garage so the 392 must park In front of the house.

Just FYI, We do have a home camera security system (9 cameras hookeds to a DVR) but the cameras generally do not extend well into the street and are instead focused on the gates, doors, etc. Further, even if such cameras caught the culprits, they would likely be wearing hoodies and identification would be a long shot.

Moving forward, I will use secure screws which have a special key to tighten and loosen the bolts attaching to lights to the mounts. I will also place solar powered lights and cameras in front of the house on the Palm Trees. I will also investigate placing some type of recording device inside the Jeep looking out toward the front where both the former LP4s and bumper mounted LP6s reside.

Does anyone have any additional ideas on how to secure the lights? I thought of a stainless steel cable between the lights and the mounts but this could be cut and would require some type of drilling or other intrusion into the lights.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Sorry for that. Sucks to say the least. I hope you have a security system on the 392.
On the bolt threads, blue locktite to slow them down. Red locktite to stop them. Only thing to consider is if they can't steal them, they may damage them in spite.

That sucks, was wondering the same thing. The tamper screws you get from the factory aren't much of a deterrent. You can get those bits anywhere.

If they want them a Sawzall will get it for them.

I am putting in Ravelco. if you are parking that outside might consider them.

That sucks. I'm downtown Huntington and won't be able to keep my 392 in the garage when it arrives. I guess lighting may be out of the picture for me.

I just bought the LP6 also and they make these screws with 2 holes in them and the bit to tighten them down. little pricy for 2 screws but worth it if someone will attempt to steal them. Also I know this is not a major help but if you can put a heat shrink around the pug that may also slow them down. they will not be able to unplug easy. just a double protection for water and ass holes.

This ⬇️ on a chain long enough to reach all the way around your Jeep and a garden hose to wash the blood off the pavement in the morning.

Thank you for the replies!

My countermeasures will be as follows:

1. New LP4s, harnesses and security screws for both the LP6s and LP4s have been ordered. I will use the Baja Designs hardware, as well as separate tamper – proof bolts for the light bolts not covered by the Baja Designs hardware.

2. Duct tape the LP6s on the bumper until the security screws arrive, and park it across the back of the garage directly under a camera.

3. We have a Doberman Pinscher which was in fact barking at the exact time of the theft (12:24 AM according to our home security cameras). Must listen to Dog next time!

4. Installation of motion – activated – dash camera inside the Jeep with red dot. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

5. Installation of solar powered, motion sensitive security lights on the palm trees in front of the house where the car typically parks.

6. Installation of a mega lumen, motion sensitive, aimable spotlight hardwired to the second story of the front of the house-- good for this situation if caught in the act as well as people attempting to sleep in their cars.

7. Keep an eye out for any LP4 lights which show up on local vehicles!

If you have any other ideas, please let me know!

If you can get a motion sensor aimed correctly and not overly sensitive so it only comes on when someone is close to your Jeep wire it to a buzzer in the house so you get an audible noise to alert you, exterior lights won’t wake you up.

This is good advice. I live where my backyard is backing up to an open space and use one of these in case someone decides they should come visit my back door:

Do you think the safety fasteners would really help. It would be quicker to sawzall the brackets off vs unscrewing the regular screws, much less the safety ones. They are just going to cut the wiring, not look to see how the plug comes out.

I am just asking these questions because I go back and forth on ordering the safety fasteners.

I want to be a people person, but...they make it difficult. 😐

Sorry to hear about the theft OP.

Sounds good to me. What’s a few more bucks
