Just upgraded to 37’s and got me thinking if I should replace my XR wheels with aftermarket ones to reduce weight and get a little wider stance than +12 offset and do either 0 or -12. I would stick with 17 only and either do 8.5 or 9.

I do love the stock XR wheels and they are around 700ish a piece new. Also I haven’t noticed a big hit on performance but shaving weight on wheels would bring total weight to OEM setup (104 lbs per wheel/tire) or maybe lower depending on the wheel I choose. New tire for now is MT BB AT 37x12.5r17 weight is 80 lbs. stock XR wheel is 41 lbs.

2 Question- Pictures Welcomed!

1. For those that have gone with aftermarket wheels any regret getting rid of the stock XR wheels for aftermarket?

2. For those that stuck with XR wheel and gone 37’s or larger how have you liked your setup and are you happy keeping the stock XR wheel?

My stock wheels and tires came off as soon as I made it home from the dealership. Swapped for KMC Machete Beadlocks, with monster valves, and have never looked back. Oh, and we did the same with my wife’s 392…. Not one single regret. I’m now running 8-lug, 40 x 13.5 x 17’s and my wife’s on 37 x 12.5 x 17” and I’m very happy with the results.

Why didn’t you like the -12 and any issues with -38? How is the steering and handling?

Do you have a side shots to show the amount of poke?

-12 just didnt do it for me. (1st pic)

I'm torn...I like my XR's, but would prefer AEV Salta XR's to keep them a bit more tucked in under the fenders, especially with 37's (BFG K02). Would save 5 lbs per corner too.

I'll be going Method Bead Grip wheels when I upgrade. Likely will go up to 37" too. Haven't decided offset but I don't want anything poking too much beyond the fender flares. I do like the current offset stock, whatever it is. Just a little poke.

Really liked my Salta wheels on my previous JLUR.

Just be careful going through rocks, the Saltas get chewed up pretty easily (or I suck at picking lines lol).

On my 392 I'm going KMC 235 Grenade Crawl Beadlocks with 38 Nitto Trail Grapplers as I've to enjoy the more technical trails and less camping.

Good luck!

Doh! That's a good one! I have yet to scratch my XR's. I just like the look of the Salta's and they still have XR in the name 😁

These are what I have seen that I like so far. Question is the would the alpha in blue look good with sting gray and the bronze 392.

I went with TeraFlex Nomads. They are awesome if you wheel. Very strong and have built in air-downs that work great.

I wish I had kept my Saltas that I put on my Gladiator Mojave. I really like the look.

Yeah I like a little poke. The XR wheels with 12 offset look good just heavy wheel.

Would be nice to have a wheel dressing shop go try some wheels and buy the one you like lol
