I generally crawl 99% of the time, but there are times you need a bit of a spin/bump to get up and over an obstacle.

One thing I noticed is while attempting to climb in 4lo, the vehicle stalls after I spin and then stop. On 38s, atlas 3.8.1 , 4.88's, can't think of anything else to list that would matter. No tune, stock filter, etc.

Any ideas would be helpful. Example on post #4 with a slow slip and stall a couple of times.

Yeah its a little unnerving rolling back down with little brake resistance. There are times you do not want to roll back, especially on obstacles where you have gotten off the line.

Interesting enough, found on another jl forum that one person found that seat belt being fastened resolved it. I use my seat belt at all times but it could have been my ice cooler in the passenger seat not being seat belted down.

One other thing I found with my infamous internet warrior searching was:

I’m like you, I mostly rock crawl, but I do a snow run every year and that requires higher RPM , what I believe is going on is there is a rev limiter on the 392 and as soon as you hit the rev limiter it cuts your engine RPM down to nothing, it’s very frustrating when you are so close to making it over the obstacle, but the engine shuts you down ,it’s a little dangerous sliding backwards in the snow down a hill. In addition to the JL mini tazer which I run on my Jeep, I also purchased the no limits which disables the rev limiter, and some other features. I am not an advertiser for them, but here is a link to what I purchased.

Heres a video where it barely even spins, I wouldn't even call this a mild send, just a crawl and it slips a bit. Start it at 14 minutes 8 seconds. This one isn't a big deal but while at Sand Hollow, was doing a bit of a send up something steep and it stalled and sent me backwards down the hill.

You’re definitely not on a rev limiter, not sure why it stalled, I would blame it on your spotter lol

Holy crap, I’ve never had that happen going up an obstacle… but I’ve had it happen plenty of times going downhill 💩.

Any mods in there and does it happen if you’re in M1?

Only used manual mode on a couple of good hill climbs.

Wow, that is an odd one. I've never had that happen with my 392. I can't see if your brake lights are on with that camera angle, but I might do something like that with one foot on the gas and the other foot on the brake. I wonder if doing it that way would make a difference? I hope you find the answer, and be sure to share it with us when you do.

Is that the road up Dutchman's Draw?

If you are on Facebook may try posting this in the Jeep Wrangler 392 owners group. Scott Blum is very active and chimes in on most questions like this. He would be the one who could probably point you in the right direction.

Yeah I do a lot of left foot braking.

This is in vegas, just a series of offshoots from la madre.

Awesome, posted there and sent him a message, thank you.

Classic torque management on the 392. Mine does it all the time. I guess I have learned to drive around it but it's definitely put me in bad situations.

I had the NoLimitz which worked but it was killing my battery and I sent it back. Probably should have kept it.

I get pretty aggressive in the rocks so I use M1 and M2 to avoid wheel spin. It works out great and can really save you on those obstacles where your back-end could kick out and cause a rollover 😉
I use the paddle shifters almost all the time when offroad in low range on technical terrain to keep it in M1 and M2 as well. Then if there is an easier stretch of trail I just shift up to M6, M7, etc., or sometimes just shift into D for the easy stuff.

“Ice Cooler” in the passenger seat? You got a “hot water heater” at home too?

Have they fixed the No Limitz yet? I was thinking of getting one to eliminate cylinder deactivation. I’m guessing that’s not the problem in this case though. I think it’s deactivated in 4-low.
