Spare Tire theft prevention

I have a 392 on order and ill be a 1st time Jeep owner. I am wondering what everyone does to secure there spare tire? I know they have the basic locking lug nuts but wondering how effective they are and if they even come on the jeep.

Congrats on your order! Locking lug nuts is an option you can choose when ordering but you can also grab some on Amazon or any of the major Jeep off-road site. I’ve not personally done anything other than locking lug nuts but I did get locking hood latches and gas cap.

Locking hood latches. Never would have thought. Is that an issue?

It really depends…theft of niche performance vehicles is a real thing (Hellcat Chargers, Challengers, Durangos and Rubicon 392s) but where you park your Jeep will likely be more of the deciding factor. The world is a crazy place. Locking hood latches cost anywhere from 50-130 dollars which is cheap when you consider the cost of the 392.

I think anything you can do that would visually dissuade a thief from messing with your Jeep is worth the effort and money. I put on the locking lug nuts Day 1, then added locking hood latches after one of this forum’s members had his 392 stolen. I went with these hood latches because they look like and fit like the OEM latches.

I agree with @CBH. I did the exact same thing, locking lug nuts on at 103 miles and about two weeks ago I installed the exact same locking hood latches. At this very moment, my 392 is in the shop for installation of a Ravelco kill switch https://www.ravelco.com/index.html. Make it hard for anyone to mess with your Jeep!
