Time for a new transmission or was it a ring and pinion?

I believe it's transfer case. I have was helping a guy recover his Jeep off a long difficult trail. 100+degrees and Jeep running a long time. After several hours on the trail got his Jeep recovered and once I got off the hard trail and onto an easy trail the light came on. Felt and heard a little binding but not like it was fully locked. Never turned it off and finished the trail and drove it 2 hours home and haven't messed with it yet.

10 miles into my 2nd TC now... looking into Atlas as well just in case... Looks like a very big job though and with less than perfect end results? I don't want to have to resort to Jscan, tazer and all just to get the Jeep to run properly with 4lo, lockers etc. Stellantis really needs to sort this out

Tazer isn't a big deal and I have never had an issue with the one in my Jeep or TRX.

No dash light on this morning.

I dang near hate Jeeps.

But...

Only in a Jeep can you go 14 miles, in 2 days, in 100+ degree temperature, have one of the 2 Jeeps stuck on the hardest trail at the park, for 24 hours, and still have a blast. It's a Jeep Thing. Fun start to the week.

Nice adventures. I guess well worth the troubles.

yeah, I'm sure tazer's fine. My point was when you spend 100k$ on a vehicle the least you should expect is that essential stuff like the TC will work stock without having to resort to aftermarket 🤷‍♂️

inally got my Metalcloak front bumper. It was lost by FedEx and had to go through the process of starting over. Turned out really nice, tons of clearance and beefy.

Agree but being a Jeep owner since the early 80's you buy them knowing that almost every single part is going to get replaced if you are going to use it off road....

This 100%.

For me Phase 1 was add stuff: Metalcloak Undercloak full belly pan, f/r LCA skids. Completed

Phase 2 replacing suspension/tires/steering/shocks/driveshaft with:
  • 2.5 inch Metalcloak springs and track bars
  • Globex Performance aluminum mid arms (with RK adventure joints)
  • Globex Performance aluminum tie rod, drag link (with SteerSmarts ends)
  • Fox 2.5 DSC adjustable shocks
  • Dynatrac ball joints
  • Teraflex tire carrier
  • Adams front driveshaft
  • PSC 392 Adventure kit (whenever its released)
  • Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 38/12.50/17
  • Either NVM aluminum fenders or split stock fenders
  • Tazer
