Hi
I’m shopping for a used low mileage 392.
I know through the years there were some changes. It appears the 24 and newer have bigger axles.
What I’ve been shopping for is a 22 or newer with the 35” tire and 4:56 gear package.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I’m test driving a 24 with all the bells and whistles. Boy did the original owner take a hit.

The '24+ doesn't have larger axles, but got full floating rear axles. Also, the larger screen, etc. The resale has really dropped lately, but I love mine too much to care right now.

You should also shop for leftover 2024 and 2025 392s that never sold; just ensure they change the fluids. I gotta believe dealers will sell them cheap to get them off the lot.

Thanks for the info.
I ve seen a few of the new ones out there but they seem way to expensive.
The 24 I’m interested in is in the low seventies. But I’m thinking they will be dropping more in the near future with the release of the Moab and Willys 392.

If you are looking for a daily driver - you might be pleasantly surprised at a new Willys. Many dealers are willing to deal (on the order of 5 to 7 K off retail), then you can get another grand off with Tread Lightly... and have a new rig with full warranty. New Willys starts at $70K, and another $2K delivery cost. There are a number of dealerships on here that will give you a quote on a new one, and that may give you leverage with a local dealer for a decent deal.

Used ones - it's hard to say what is going to happen. Prices will come down some - but I don't see them dropping significantly. Between the demand for new AND used ones - and the limited numbers of 24 and 25 models - I think prices will stay fairly stable. YMMV.

Take a couple of evenings and read through the board here; there is a LOT of good first hand experience documented on here. Also - if you've not seen it yet - I put together a FAQ based on a lot of the same thoughts. I had a lot of questions, and collected what I found in one place. Whatever you decide - they are amazing vehicles, every drive puts a smile on my face.
