Has anyone done the "Richard Petty" 540hp package on their 392? Or know of anybody? Trying to find some reviews...

I looked on their website and it looks like a package for whole engine transplant as a package. Not a package to apply to an engine that is already in the car.

But you could probably get their cam and heads + tune and put those in our 392 engines.....Did you see a link where this was available?

Not that I would do it at this point....probably would cost >$5k installed. I would probably wait until I had to rebuild or replace the engine.

I would actually be interested in a low psi supercharger (5psi) that would be safe to use with the existing pistons. 5psi is not much but would get you close to 600 hp without having to replace a ton of other parts. Then down the road, could replace pistons and rod, crank up the boost and just be insane.

When I say interested in......I really would just live vicariously through others at this point. The factory package is so awesome that if I can keep her running like she is now.....I'll be happy with Ms. Sarge for many years to come.

Here is a youtube video of a cammed 392 ................I like the lopey race car sound of these 392 cams but would likely hurt streetability somewhat due to the 392 running at low rpms most of the time. I enjoy hammering on it, but fact is, most of the time the engine is below 2500 rpm where the stock cam is much more efficient than a lopey cam (better at high rpm)

I did some motor and other misc. work on my GC SRT, getting close to 600hp.
Final numbers were just under 580hp and 590 ft.lbs.
It was nice. Wasn’t exactly a sleeper due to the exhaust note. It stood out and motor heads knee it wasn’t stock. As well as the CHP. 😒
MPGs didn’t change much and had more to do with throttle influence.
I considered it for the JL, however, 100 hp & tq isn’t that influential on a 5000lbs vehicle. Add 35’s or larger, and suddenly, an extra $5k+ doesn’t seem worth the .2-.4 seconds off 0-60. And that would be in optimal conditions.
Personally, I wouldn’t do it again. If I did anything, S/C, get the numbers much higher for the amount of work and $.
I still go back to this 1 rule.
Your money, your rig, enjoy how you wish. 🤓

Thanks for response. Yes they have done a couple 392's. It is available to your existing 392. Most the power gains are between 2500 and 4000rpm. Comes with 3yr/36000 warranty from them. It is pricey at $10k. Torque gains are even higher.

You have probably already seen it, but the Livernois tune adds 30 or 40hp and would be much easier than engine mods. May void powertrain warranty............I'm on the sidelines right now due to being happy with it just like it is and don't want to mess up factory warranty, but enjoy reading about other people's endeavors and watching videos.

I have thank you. Not sure if there would be a noticeable difference based on size and weight of vehicle? I was hoping to find a solution to keep same performance on XR with 37's.
