Roof Rack for 392

The hard top of the 392 is exactly the same as any other JLU (2018 to present). Look for roof racks designed for these model years.

Its my understanding that any roof rack with a pillar mounts have to be specific for 392 because hood is 1.5 inches taller. I need a sturdy roof rack to mount a roof top tent. Has any body successfully mounted a front runner Rack?

Thanks

The A pillar doesn't change. The hood is taller because of the hood scoop. Here is a video of a roof rack that doesn't use the A pillar in case you would like to consider it, and it can hold a roof top tent.

Confused, The removable cowling that the roof racks attach to are a different size so the bolt holes and bracket size don't match up, much like the Light bracket do. Standard light bracket for the JL won't work on 392, I hope im worng

Also I don't see the video, I need a strong roof rack

Thanks for your help

Got it. I hope someone clarifies this for us. Lol. Sorry I forgot to link the video. Here it is

I’ve seen a few of these in person. Very solid and look great - best I’ve, seen out there. I’ll be getting this one. Only downside is that you’re drilling into your top.

Has anybody found a rack yet?

Thanks!
I drove to a front runner dealer today and held a bracket up the the front of the 392 and as expected it dose not fit because of the hood being 1.5 inches taller

It looks like the rino rack backbone system will work but only had a weight rating of 264 lbs

Best rack by far (in my humble opinion) for the Jeep Wrangler is the Rhinorack. Had one on my JK and it has over 200 lbs more capacity then any other rack I've seen - did many rooftop tent camping nights without problem, and hauled cargo on it as well. I've got the newer version on my 392 now, and I've had over 500 lbs. static load on it without any problems, and taken it offroad with over 300 lbs. dynamic load, again with no problems. The biggest drawback of the rhinorack is that the mounting system requires holes to be drilled through the hardtop and for the mounting arms to be attached to the mounting bolts for the hardtop - makes it a permanent deal and makes removing the hardtop more complicated. But again, in my opinion, the best rack for the JLU.

The Maximus-3 roof rack mount. It's a Rhino rack with their own mounting system. You do have to drill your top, but the holes are on top so are hidden if you ever want to remove. The Rhino Rack back bone is through the side of the top so will always be visible. Also the static weight of Maximus-3 is something like 900lbs and dynamic 400lbs (this is because it bolts to the frame). It also sits lower to the roof. If you don't have the ladders it only takes an extra 5min to take the top off. Also if only getting one ladder get the driver side (you have to take the subwoofer out to get to the bolts on the passenger side). Also if you get the ladders place a piece of something under the flange when drilling (there are wiring harnesses on both sides). I got to repair one of mine (not fun). This link has pics of mine.
