RKKRAWL Hydro Blue Build

Just got notice from Next Venture Motorsports that my Rim Rocker Rock Sliders shipped - yeaaaah!!!! Still waiting on the belly skid and bumpers.

Well, since I can't find any room to mount my CB and Ham radios - I got this Icom 5100 with a remote faceplate. We'll see how the install goes.

Well that was easy except routing all the wiring up the B pillar and across the windshield frame. Only place I could find for the main unit was in front of the freezer/fridge so that's where it ended up along with the CB, I primarily use the ham so the CB isn't that much of a pain being behind the driver's seat. Now to find a boom mike with a ptt switch.

Rocker guards arrived and in the process of installing, be sure to take Motrin or Advil before starting this project - they are beefy 86 lbs each.

And I thought the Rockslide steps were heavy at 72 pounds each...ouch!

@RKKRAWL you are setting up for some SERIOUS off-roading!

And looking good doing it! (y)

Let’s see the new Bronco do that!

Between the weight of these things and the after effects of the Covid booster I've been wiped out for a few days. Finally got one side on and the other side should go much faster.

Had some Hemi stickers that I was thinking about putting on but just didn't like the way that they looked, so on to the modifications.

Well, I managed to score some of the last Nitto 40x13.5x17 Trail Grapplers in the country - no more until June 2022. New beadlocks will be here Monday. It's always fun mounting beadlocks by hand on the the floor. Still waiting on Next Venture Motorsports aluminum belly skid so I can at least do some trails with this thing, the trails I like to do really give me second thoughts about that low hanging oil pan drain bolt.

Beadlocks got here early, these are the Dirty Life Dual Tek wheels which have the trim ring for street use and have an optional true beadlock ring kit. Tried to show the plastic rim protector on both sides and the true beadlock rim on both sides. For street use the tire mounts on the inside of the rim flange, for offroad use it mounts to the outside of the flange an is held in place by the beadlock ring.

Got the oil pan today and package was torn open, windage trays bent and hardware missing. Figured I might as well take off the aluminum pan and see what's what. Aluminum pan has a built in oil pickup system cast into the pan, windage tray is completely different, no main bolt stand-off for an oil pickup tube, checked the length of the dip stick and the new one is longer so you will need to change the tube and dip stick, can re-use the 21 pan bolts as the aluminum pan bolts are the same. Looks like it is a direct replacement except for some stand-offs for the transmission lines and a couple for a u shaped insulated harness or tube, my guess is the 392 shipping with the steel pan have some sort of bolt on brackets. Maybe someone with a steel pan could take some pictures.

Had a spacer made for the spare tire carrier's backup camera, the original tire had a 6" backspacing and the new rims have a 4.53" backspacing, the camera sees a lot of the inside of the rim because the wheel sits further forward. The spacer will work with my 8 x 6.5 wheels but the hub center of the 5 x 5 wheels is too small for the camera housing to fit through.

Finally found the mounting plate for the Engel Fridge and was able to complete that project.

RKKRAWL, are you having any reverse sensor issues with your spare tire? I’m having intermittent issues with one of mine, dealership service says it’s my spare tire. I do have some rim showing in the camera.

Sorry, couldn't tell you I sold my stock bumpers awhile ago and have been waiting for my Next Venture ones for awhile, so no backup sensors. Did you change your rim to ones with less backspacing? Try running without the spare and see what happens.
