I know this has been a known issue w/ the 392 engine covers, but my search skills on the board were coming up empty. The engine covers on my 2022 had still looked pretty good up til now, but as I was doing some annual engine bay detailing over the weekend, the gold markings on my covers damn near all washed/wiped off with very little "cleaning" effort. Of course, I'm a couple months out of my B2B warranty now, so I'm sure its not worth wasting my time to try to get warranty replacements. Thinking about just buying a new set or getting the original ones painted, but I was mainly curious of two things... For anyone who did the warranty route (or bought new ones recently), do newer ones hold up any better than the original ones used back in the first couple years of the model? Also, if anyone else has taken theirs off themselves and replaced them, how hard are the covers to remove and replace? Any tips/tricks? Thanks!

Easy to remove, they’re literally just held on with posts and rubber grommets. Look at Distinction applied if you want custom ones or you can buy decals off Etsy

Hi, I have 2023 and had the same issue that your having. I brought it to the dealer last year and they replaced the engine covers under warranty. Now they are peeling again, same issue, the new covers didn’t make a difference.

Awesome...thanks for the info! I sent Distinction a message earlier, actually, so hope to hear back from them soon.

Sucks that the new ones weren't any better, but I kinda figured that would probably be the case. I think I've decided to just go the paint or decal route with my existing ones.

I went with 392 covers from a Charger/Challenger. More durable than the gold for whatever reason. Some trimming required but not bad.

I bought new ones they are not expensive at all. I then painted them with clear high heat paint and they are holding up like new

My 2025 already had the paint chipping of the 392 writing on the passenger side. Popped it off cleaned of the remaining paint and replaced it paint with oracle heat resistant vinyl graphic from Reflective Concepts in Nassau NY. Fit perfect and look great actually better then factory paint which flakes off just looking at it. lol

As Robr651 mentioned they are really easy to remove. I didn't even want to think about going to the dealer for replacement when the crappy paint will just come off again anyway.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Distinction on how much a set of painted/dipped would set me back, but if I go the decal route, which color vinyl did you go with for the factory color match, the Gold Metallic or Bronze Metallic?

I don't understand the quality of the engine covers; I bought my '24 months later and the gold stripes already came partially off. I'm thinking to try spray painting and see if they'll stick on to the cover better....

Our 2024 started pealing in less than 10K miles. I think at the next service appointment I'll see if they'll warranty it even though the new ones probably won't last either.

For what its worth I went with the gold. Looks great the so called "bronze" on our 392's are like 5 different colors depending on what your looking at. It's not like Jeep really went out of their way to get all of the bronze color to match. lol

And Reflective Concepts offer other colors so it's up to you to make your own statement should you wish. Great products!

Painting on plastic is an art, their are special prep work required, adhesive promoters and so on. I am sure Jeep used the cheapest route possible. For what we all paid it should have been an anodized metal emblem but it is what it is!

I have had them replaced two times and they are the same poor quality. I am going to have an aftermarket company repainting reseal.

Has Distinction gotten back to you with a price? Do they have the covers listed on their website?

Yes, they were very responsive and we discussed some custom painted/dipped options based on another set I'd seen on the JL forums, but ultimately it was a little more pricey than I could talk myself into spending on them right now, so I just ordered a set of the overlay decals mentioned above and will try those for now.

Distinction does not have the 392 covers listed on their website, nor do they stock the covers, so you have to ship them your existing covers for them to do their magic.
