Hey Guys, I recently saw in the "What did you do to your 392 today" thread where a couple of rear view mirror options were shown. The back of my 392 is completely blocked with a shelf, fridge, AAL drawers, Jack and Bluetti solar gen. The two I saw listed are below, curious if you have installed one how clean the install was. I don't need a bunch of pictures I just want a clear picture behind me as I live in my rear/side mirrors when on the road.

I have a friend that installed one that does both front and rear - but I’m not sure what brand. The picture quality is much better than the OEM and I think I’ll swap over if/when my existing dash cam dies.

I had Wolfbox 930 on my 2019 that caught on fire. I loved it. It was nice to be able to see when I was loaded up. I haven't pulled the bullet on my 392 because it is stock but the minute I go to bigger tires I'll be putting the Wolfbox 930 in. I 3D printed a cover for the camera that mounted on the third brake light.

I went with the 930 because it is only 10 inches wide. It made it so the passenger visor would work and the driver's visor only half worked as the mirror was in the way. The two ways I've read to fix this is on the 930 space it out a half inch and then both visors work. You can also mount the 900 pro on the dash in the middle. One guy on another forum did this.

Good luck deciding and figuring it all out!

Thanks for the feedback, at first I thought you meant the wolfbox caught on fire and why the hell you would buy another one :) I have been on a couple of hundred vehicle fires, do you know what started the fire?

I don't know for sure. I was going up a steep road and it overheated instantly. Straight from normal to over in less than a second. I got out and was letting it cool down when a radiator hose blew. I was thinking about how I was going to deal with that when I saw flames coming up from under the hood with the steam. My guess is it overheated so bad it warped something and some fluid like oil or gas hit the hot turbo but it was burned up so bad there wasn't really anything left to analyse. Here's a pic:

FWIW, I had dealer install this one and been very happy with it.

I'm interested in seeing what people have to say in this thread. After installing a 40" spare tire I had been thinking about taking my rear-view mirror off and not even having one, because you can't see anything with it anyway. At least that way I could see better out the front windshield. This is a much better idea, LOL. So, ... let's see which one is better, and why.

I've installed the Wolfbox on two JKUR's and a Corvette. Excellent product. And excellent service. On one install, I managed to break one of the connectors. Totally my fault. I called them to order a replacement and they wouldn't let me pay for it.

Man that sucks, majority of vehicle fires I have been on are from the transmissions. 88-98 chevy trucks had an issue where dipsticks would blow out and the tranny fluid would hit the manifold and boom instant fire. My station was at the top of the four lanes on the way to Shaver lake and it was a 5 mile grade that people would run air conditioning and we averaged 60 vehicle fires a year, many RV's. I have 5 fire extinguishers in my 392. I would encourage all of you to have at least two in reach from your drivers seat with your seat belt on. I have hood locks and always unlock them when we are on a road trip or wheeling, you need to get to the engine bay quickly as well as under dash electrical fires. Sorry for the derail but its a good time to bring it up as I can't tell you how many vehicles I have put fires out on because the person did not have a fire extinguisher in their vehicle...

That is a lot of fires to deal with. I have hood locks but never thought about keeping them unlocked when the locks aren't necessary. I just got mine to park in Vegas for SEMA.. That's a good reminder for everyone on fire extinguishers.

It was heartbreaking. Her name was Bella. I put a lot of sweat and money into her. The lift kit and 39 inch tires were only a couple months old.

Bummer man I feel your frustration

Theres always the option with a tazer to view the rear camera at any speed/time.
I have a shortcut assigned to one of the buttons on the wheel for that but that cameras perspective is not clear enough for detail. Backing up is fine with it or a quick check but these mirrors have HD quality screens, I want to be able to see details. I live in my mirrors when driving and its saved my ass more than once.

The Wolfbox also has a front facing camera, and it will record. It also has bump sensors and will turn itself on to record someone bumping in you.

I purchased the Wolfbox but ended up returning it since the ACC interfered with the front facing camera. I went with the AUTO-VOX T9PRO since the front camera can be mounted on the windshield away from any obstructions. Absolutely love the camera and the expanded view out the back.

Here's a couple of pics - tried to capture a view with both the side mirror and back-up camera.

Rusty, as a firefighter what type of extinguisher would you recommend?

I have the factory front camera and use it a lot on trail, was looking at the T9 Pro, did you need any additional mounts for the rear camera? How was it attaching the mirror, does it still look clean?

I have three types I carry, two Halon which are not cheap but for an engine fire would be my go to, the ones listed below are 1.4 I believe mine are 2.5 and I did not see them on Amazon. The Elements are simple and inexpensive and I have seen videos of them being used but have not tested them and would not count on them with an engine or electrical fire. The Firexo work on Lithium Ion fires which is pretty much every battery now including our phones and GoPro batteries. I have seen a GoPro battery catch on fire from overheating and it could easily burn your 392 to the ground. If you have not seen a Lithium fire google it and you will see. If its a dash mounted GoPro you are going to have seconds before it gets out of hand, a bucket of sand or lead container is ideal to just drop it into and get it out of your vehicle or house.

I 3D printed a rear mount and used some 2 sided gorilla tape - works and looks better than the one that was included in the kit. I can send the .stl file of you have access to a 3D printer.

I ordered this OEM style mount for the mirror itself - perfect fit and finish. I'll takes some additional pics this afternoon and post them here.
