Has anyone had any luck removing the rear head rests on the 392 Rubicon? I just ordered the Bartact rear seat covers for my Jeep and for the life of me I can't figure out how to remove the head rests. The manual says only the middle head rest is removable. Has anyone installed Bartact seat covers in the rear and run into this?

Thanks!

Don't think they are easily removable. Wife had an issue with a few booster seats were were trying out for my son that would have easily been solved if the rear headrests were removable. Seems like a design flaw imho.

So what booster did you end up using? Having the same issue now

Original thread is old but this video shows how:

Doesn’t look too hard but seems coulda been designed better.

We just got a booster without a headrest. Seems fine for my son now. However, same issue for my younger daughter's seat. She really needs a headrest as she doesn't like to hold her head up when sleeping on road trips.
Amazon sells these little pillow/neck rests that fit around head rests which may be an easy solution.

In the video above, you can take the headrest off, but you still have those rails sticking out. Apparently, there is a way to remove them as well with the 2 door IIRC, but not so easily on the 4 door.

So you got a backless booster?

yes.

At one point, I debated just taking a dremmel to the headrest but wasn't sure how expensive it might be to replace it back to normal.

Hopefully Jeep engineers come up with a better headrest on the new Wrangler whenever they release it. As more people buy Jeeps as daily drivers/family haulers, this is a huge design flaw imho.
