So I’m on the fence regarding the Tazer, and mainly interested just because it’s a gadget. But earlier posts regarding its ability to arm the hood to the vehicle alarm is almost reason enough (still think Jeep should do this at the factory…)

But I was just looking on the Tazer site and I came across a feature I hadn’t seen, or at least missed in the past:
“lock all four brakes in park to anchor Jeep (shortcut)”

Could this be used as a safeguard from flat-towing theft? I’m not exactly sure what the feature is, but it basically sounds like it engages the brakes at all four wheels, which would prevent movement even with the driveline in neutral.

Anyone familiar with this feature?

I have not used it but if someone wants to steal it and has a rollback, they will just drag it on with tires locked.

Yukon I believe it’s for winching purposes primarily to give stability when trying to winch someone out of a stuck situation. Not positive but I have seen it used that way with a RAM truck once who also had that Tazer feature.

Good idea @YukonCornelius . And I like how your “mainly interested just because it’s a gadget.” That goes the same for me 🤣
Sadly you’ll see on the back of most tow trucks a set of these:

They are called GoJak’s but there are cheaper knockoffs. You can tow anything even a total wreck using these to get it on the flat bed. I have a set of 4 and use them to store my beetle in the back of the garage during winter (turning my old 2 car garage effectively into a 3 car garage)
I think if someone wants to tow you to steal the vehicle then they probably will.

I watched a flat bed drag a Land Rover onto its bed.
Also, wheel dollies and a tow bar with a truck can still take it away.

Not much of a theft deterrent. Mostly favored in winching.
I have the Tazer
I like it
It has a lot of features.

I'll probably just end up with another ProCal Snap, it does the 2 things I want it to do, tire size and TPMS. If I want a full featured programmer, I'll go AlfaODB.

I like your thinking, but thinking it would not be good for the brakes to keep them pressurized. A hidden gps tracker might be the ticket since it seems that the thieves have all sorts of tools to steal the vehicle if they really want to.

A thermite charge located under the vehicle that you could remotely ignite and let it melt through the rear of their flatbed and maybe mangle the drivetrain on its way to the ground.
Maybe a remote detonator, but that would destroy the vehicle (just kidding on these of course).

I like the tazer btw, TPMS adjustment is nice. Light show is cool. Winch mode is nice to prevent prolonged low idle due to possible camshaft oiling issues with prolonged idling. Hood open alarm is nice. Navigation control while driving, force 2wd, the list goes on....

I've had no issues with it.

If I was in charge, I would have penalties so severe for theft that people would think twice before doing it....right now they probably just get a slap on the wrist (if that).

We used to hang horse thieves but now we just let car thieves walk, makes you go hmm...
