Power Steps / Running Boards

Now it's the wiring color coordination from their instructions that's wrong. 3 calls into them and I still haven't gotten my steps working yet. I'm at a loss on who to go to that can help me get them working.
I had no issues matching up the wire colors outlined in their instructions. Granted they are hard to distinguish stripes coloration but instructions were correct for my 21..
here is the copy which I am sure you have but cant hurt to double check..

I had an installer working on it for probably over 4 hours so far -2 different attempts- and he just gave up last night. Could be the wire colors have changed between the 21 and 22 model.

Could be the issue for sure but I would think AMP would be able to determine that.. Hope you can solve it as I know that is frustrating for sure. Good Luck!

Just a follow-up to let everyone know what's going on. I've emailed them and am waiting for a response before I start demanding a refund. I've had amp steps installed on 3 different Jeeps in the past and have had excellent service out of them but this issue is rediculous. It seems like Amp isn't concerned enough to do their homework and find out the right wiring configuation for the 2022 Rubicon 392.

I had an installer mount my steps and when it got down to the wiring everything went wrong. It appears that Jeep has changed their wire colors and nothing will work any more. I have 3 calls into Amp and every time they say to just go find the right wire for each door. The wiring lume is about an inch in diameter and no-one wants to go through each wire and test them to find out if this is the right one for a specific door. I've called several installers in the Dallas area and they all say they either don't want the job or they don't have time. Most dealers that are aware of this wire color change that Jeep made won't sell the amp steps to some one that has a 2022 Rubicon 392 any more. So I'm running around with steps that don't work and can't get any help from Amp. I feel it is Amp's responsibility to call Jeep and get the wiring corrected. I'm finished dealing with Amp so if you can get me an answer I won't request sending them back for a refund.

Is the right passenger door still working?

A complaint to the BBB will get their attention.

Yes. But I'm having hell with Amp. Instead of them calling Jeep and finding out what the color of the wires are, now since they obviously changed them since 2021 and telling their customers, they just tell us to start probing the wires with a meter to find the right wires to tap into. I requested an RA and they won't take it back since I destroyed the original boxes. I'll never buy another Amp product again. Customer service SUX!!!!!!!!

Sorry you had all that trouble. Since your stuck with them your only choice is to get them working. Since you have one circuit, passenger door, working you can wire the other step to that circuit to verify the driver side is operational. You would then have to probe the working circuit and find the same results for the other doors while probing. Not to difficult of a task. If you were near I would help but I am in CA.

I got a mechanic to probe all wires yesterday and he figured out what is going on. It was all in the splice and the splicing device they send you. All in all, they are working now with no help whatsoever from Amp. All I can say is
Californians are different from the rest of the US.

Awesome to hear you got ‘em working…. Long ordeal I’m sure you’re glad is over.

yes, but at what cost? Steps are not cheap and to hire someone to install and troubleshot is expensive

I wasn't getting the reference to Californians. Didn't know AMP was here in CA. They are a few minutes from my office. I have a few weeks to go on a RSE backorder. Ordered 2 sets, 1 for the wife's 18, other for the 392. Hopefully I can install with no issues but I will keep the box for awhile.

In contrast to the AMP customer service and warranty I am very pleased with RSE warranty and support. I ordered 2 sets of the sliders. On delivery one of the 4 boxes was slightly damaged and a minor scuff on the slider. One phone call on Monday and 2 emails on Tuesday describing the issue and the replacement has been shipped, arriving Friday. No demands for original box which I kept and no demands to ship the return before sending out the replacement. They haven't even mentioned returning it yet. I will keep it through the install just in case I need a part. Started the install hoping that goes as well.
