When I started spec'ing out this build some time ago, I had only a few goals in mind: 1) Keep as much of the OEM Jeep 392 aesthetic as possible as I just like the fundamental look and 2) build a rig that I could comfortably travel to virtually any moderate/difficult trail, not have to worry about performance, and have the confidence that she would hold up. That said, it was my first trip to Moab that changed my perspective... As I've never done a build thread, what started out (as many of us do) as a lift kit, shocks, and tires has morphed into something I couldn't be more happy with.

There are many member builds that I've taken some inspiration from as let's be honest, this group has some absolutely phenomenal builds! I find this build to be neither over-the-top nor flashy by any means, but it certainly fits my wants & needs (and budget) and has a clean look. Special shout out to @prodriquez @ParadigmDawg and @jeepguru for the insight along the way. And mostly importantly, Cody and the guys down at Advanced Mechanical Performance who basically started over and did the install.

I've got about 200mi left on the break-in, then we'll flex her out to get all of the bumps set correctly. I know with the 72.5" Axles and by retaining the factory fenders & fender trim I'm not going to be setting any flex records, but I'm good with that until something breaks; which it will. Atlas in the future.... well, maybe.

Cheers All 🍻

That's very nice buddy.

Mine is definitely a budget build next to yours. I can't wait to wheel them together here in a few months.

Both of you are not helping my cause. I just looked at 40s...they are actually cheaper then 38s lol.

But then the mods snowball from 38s ie axles, PSC, pinch weld trimming....exactly how @Phil921 setup his awesome buildd...so instead of planning around 20kish I'm now another 15k on top of that.....hmm let me take a look at my tax returns lol

That depends on your definition of helping. You will end up with 40s anyway so just go ahead and take the leap……see helping

If you have a 392 running 40s is not a problem. Youre already way ahead of the game with the steel knuckles, lift and steel steering box. Minor trimming around the rear fenders, simple lift kit and you're there. I wheel my jeep everyday out here in Georgia....not rock crawling but having fun. You only live once - ENJOY THE RIDE

If you are going to do any serious rock crawling/wheeling 38's are still not going to be good for peace of mind on the stock axles when you are out in the back country. At least not for me, especially as I wheel solo most of the time.

I agree on the 38s - if you're going out alone a lot and doing some real wheeling then peace of mind goes a long way. I went with these 40x13.5r17 Atlas Paraller MT, 8 ply - 85lbs each with 50k tread warranty. I have 13k miles on them - never had to balance them and theyre not loud at all. Something to consider...They were a lot less expensive than any 38" tire I could find.
