So the 392 is the first jeep I have owned with ughhhhh painted fenders. I always opt for the standard black fenders bc they.... arent painted and bc they flex. So now Im left wondering how to preserve the painted fenders on the 392. I am aware ppl complain of paint chips ect rocks hitting the flares but theres no mud flaps I can install to keep the rocks from flying (Im putting 35's toyo at3's on and podiums).... I see that jeep has stuck on a lil clear vinyl on the fenders so obvs there is an issue here.
Suggestions? Do I just clear wrap the entire fenders and heck wrap the whole jeep, cuz why not at this point? Im already into this rig for 100k and still modifying...

I've been thinking about putting the paint protection film (PPF) on the most front exposed areas and ceramic coating on the rest of the vehicle. Agree with you, more money to throw at it on top of the price of the vehicle. Ugh

I plan on adding PPF to the fenders as well. It’s not cheap but my OCD doesn’t like rock chips. :)

Wondering out loud if just replacing the fenders with the regular black ones would be an option? I for one do not like the matching painted top and fenders as I would rather have the black contrast.

Aftermarket Metalcloak, or similar, fenders is always an option...

True. I think somewhere along the line I priced out regular fenders, don't quote me but the $750 number sticks in my mind. These damn vehicles can really be money pits!

Yes....Jeep stands for Just Empty Every Pocket....with the 392....just double the amount of dollars...

Totally agree on not liking the painted fenders. I had steel tube fenders on the jk and loved them. I would have thought by now, there would be plenty of options - but the rear bumper extending into the factory fender and the front blinkers being in the fender and not the grill are most likely the culprits behind not having as many good options as for the jk. Rambling I know - but reason for bringing it up is this - if we go with ppf, then change fenders will there be an obvious seam where factory fenders were.

Only double???

We are getting ceramic coat on everything and "armour" on the bumper, fenders, and windshield frame. $2600 (insert puke emoji). One fender got a chip on our drive back from DET to STL when we picked it up. The clear coat is THICK so it looks awful!

Check out this link to Mopar Parts on line... https://www.moparonlineparts.com/sku/82215743ac-fs.html. I know you are a million dollars into this vehicle but this might be the solution worth the price.

P.S., Though the page says that the item is backordered with no get well date but don't be discouraged, I ordered a trailer brake controller which had the same warning but it shipped the next day and arrived 6 days after that.

Bringing this topic back up. Has anyone pulled the trigger on the mopar factory black fenders? Been thinking about it.

Mine are already thrashed with < 1941 miles on it. 35” trail grapplers, Nitto. The film is too short and narrow. We all have ceramic stock on the 392 yet pay for it. At least that’s how my dealer did it. That means I can get them repaired free within 5 years.

I plan on going solid steel aftermarket that are wider to catch the rocks. Poison Spyder likely.
