First time seeing the check engine light come on on my 24 at about 2200 miles. Code reader shows P1215 Active Exhaust Valve 1 Circuit Short to Ground. Has anyone else run into this one? The active valving is still working and the check engine light stayed on through several trips yesterday. No light today so far.
 
That's just a common trick we use to convince the wife that we have to buy an AWE cat-back.

Tell her the Active Exhaust Valve 1 Circuit Short is known to cause fires.

I just had this code today. Same action - active exhaust still functions, but got the p1215. Did you ever find out what the fix was?

I had my appt at the dealer today to have the code investigated. I know you'll be surprised they found nothing wrong. In my case, the check engine light persisted through several restarts on the day it first appeared. The code disappeared and has stayed away since the morning after it first appeared. I doubt the dealer bothered to check anything at all.

Probably not. Hit up Tyler Potter over on the TRX forum. He’s also a Jeep guy and a master tech at a dealer. He might be helpful to help trace what it means.

 
I just got this light yesterday. Brought it to the dealer. Sitting at the service lane as I type this. I will update on their findings/fix. I did a visual inspection and saw nothing obviously wrong with any wiring.

Update: No luck. Dealer wants me to leave for a few days. I'll take it home and do a thorough inspection. Will post back with any findings.

Anyone figure this out? It came up today after my Jeep has been sitting for a couple of weeks. I cleared it and it didn't come back yet.

Last time I erased the code and didn't come back until today, during a short drive without any other signs and without any trigger. Just during a normal drive (well, normal with a few nice pulls...lol)

The Jeep sat for a about a week. So, I'm beginning to suspect the valves in the exhaust may get slightly stuck after the Jeep sits for a bit, and when one of them doesn't open fully, it triggers the code.

I’m curious; how would the computer know the valve did not open fully? My understanding is that it’s just an electrically operated solenoid that disrupts the vacuum signal to the vacuum operated exhaust valves. I do not think the vacuum valves have position sensors on them 🤷

Good point. The light coming on without any trigger or warning makes it difficult to find a cause.

However, the control module may be monitoring the electrical current to the solenoid and may see a slight short to ground, even though the solenoid is still working. Two things I'm not sure of (a) if there is only a single solenoid controlling both exhaust vacuum valves or if each valve has it's own solenoid and (b) are the solenoids just an analog DC signal or if they are CanBUS controlled. Either way, the control module may be able to identify a solenoid fault, even though it is still working.
