Off road plus button (noob question)

New 392 owner. I have read a little about the technical function of this button. What benefits will it give me on the street and taking off from a stoplight or just riding around town? Is it a “sport” mode. Do I need to do anything else or just crank up, hit off road +, the take off? Also, I saw a video about some torque reserve feature with off road plus. What’s that?
Thank you.
Another thing that you can do with the Off-Road + button for those that may not know.

Turn on Off-Road +, The Traction Control button light should light up. Now push and hold the Traction Control button until you hear a beep. Now you can lock the rear differential with the transfer case in 4 Hi. I had mine up to 45 mph and the rear diff stayed locked. Don't know if there is a speed where it will unlock itself.

Because the 392 is a toe-dip into street performance. And getting carried away in a tall, heavy vehicle can cause additional issues for some drivers. I ran into a guy with a 392 SRT Charger. He says he drove a Jeep 392 and it was "all over the road" so he didn't buy one. The Charger is not exactly built for the curves either so his response surprised me. I've always driven Jeeps so that extra "hold on" factor is perfectly normal for me but I can see some drivers getting carried away. (As one can see from the number of wrecked 392s out there.) Jeep probably wants to keep some performance factors on the down-low/hard to access for this reason.
makes sense. I'll admit on my first drive back from the dealer I almost flew off the road in a 3rd gear corner. I was coming off a 700 hp /204 mph alfa Romeo and was stunned by the understeer and how easy it was upset the suspension entering a corner. after a few years my racer driving skills are need even MORE, not less, when driving the jeep. the jeep forces you to absolutely get it right if you are driving hard.

I'm learning so much today. I had my paddles disabled because the shifting was so slow, that I felt like my propensity to over rev relative to what I'm trying to do was too hight on average, and when in turns, it was annoying to be without power to the wheels during those long shifts. Maybe I'll try again with OR+ enabled.

I had the same transmission in my 700whp Alfa QV build, but shift points were turned to be super quick. I just couldn't as a driver, adapt well to the slow shifts when I went to the 392. Time to revisit.
The shift points have been fixed but you'll need to unlock your PCM and get a tuner to load the file/s. Dodge didn't fix it SSI Performance Tuning did. OR+ on won't make the paddle shifting any better.

tysm for that clarification, I must have missed some context earlier.

With the flappy paddles (if you watch Top Gear you know what i mean) being attached to the steering wheel I hate using them for anything other than a straight shot. Much prefer them attached to the column which nothing will fix. And the shifting is like molasses.
And frankly after driving my husband's C8 the Jeep's slow shifting saddens me into using them even less. I personally am not a fan of the C8 but damn, the shifting is like lightning both manually and auto. Can't deny the performance of it. If Chevy can do it.....

I had no idea that the OR+ button could be used like this on the street. good thread thanks all

yup, we have the same transmission as I had in my 700+ hp Alfa QV, and the shifts were lightening fast, rev-matched, etc. The jeep's is so slow it almost feels like you drift in neutral for a second between shifts. not good when mid corner and you loose power.

It is weird. And aside from the speed (okay, speed in a Jeep) I bought the 392 for that throaty V8. Which sounds like it needs cough medicine after a hard shift. :p
