Have a ‘24 392 bought new. Sometime during the first couple hundred miles I got a pretty good bit of smoke during start up. Hoong it was a fluke I just ignored it. Today at 550 miles I got another good bit of smoke at startup. 5 minutes later while cruising around 30 it smoked again. Another 5 minutes later it smoked again while taking off from a stop light. These are not just light puffs, it is a good bit. It appears to be whitish blue. Has anyone had anything similar? Break in was by the book. Thanks.

Normally white smoke on start up is condensation. Since you noticed the smoke after 5 minutes, you might want to check if any coolant leaking. Blue smoke can be an indicator of other complicated problems, valve seal…

Not good sorry to hear that

I will look it over well when I get home. Sounds like time to make a service appt.

Very Sorry to hear this - Definitely does not sound normal at all - Hopefully you have a good service department at your dealer. This is Critical with “potential” issues like this.
Get Serviced ASAP and Keep us posted please - Good Luck🤞

I noticed some startup smoke on my 2024 (125 miles on it).
Didn't pay attention to the color as it was while I was hopping into driver’s seat on Xmas day, but it was enough to catch my attention. Never experienced any smoke on startup with my past 392s
I’m gonna keep an eye on it and report back.

Bluish indicates oil being consumed. Does it smell like burning oil? If so have you checked the oil level?

The brief chance I got to smell it, I do believe it smelled like oil. Just checked the oil, if anything it appears to be slightly overfilled. On the attached the red arrow is level. From other vehicles typically the level is within the hashed range of the dipstick.

That could be why you’re burning oil. Check the level a few minutes after it’s been running to get an accurate measurement. It doesn’t surprise me if it’s overfilled. The factory is good about adding too much and often too little on fluids.

I was getting an occasional puff of smoke during start ups, it was oil vapor condensing in the pcv valve line and dripping into the intake. After I installed a catch can it stopped. A year later still no smoke, no knocking, no ticking. That is just my experience with smoky start ups but I never saw smoke while driving, results may vary.

I will drive it for a bit tomorrow then check the level again. I am going to schedule one of my free oil changes for Friday. I will also report the smoke just for the record. Hopefully it gets filled up properly and will fix the issue.

I hope you get it solved. I'm at 413 miles on my 24' I have been paying attention to everything the moment I start it.

You should expect some oil consumption in the first several hundred miles from simply the break in process. However excessive blue smoke is not a good sign. The oil does appear to be overfilled, and that could cause more oil going through the PCV system, perhaps 🤔. My advice is to visit the service department asap. How many miles were on it when you took delivery? Reason I ask, perhaps someone hooned on it prematurely on a test drive. That could have a negative impact on ring seating. Arguably ... many opinions on this topic. This is mine and mine only. I'm very sorry to read this. Hopefully it's something very simple, as it often is. Good luck.

Taking it Saturday to dealer to have it looked at. It had 14 miles when I bought it which seems high to me especially since I had a deposit on it so it was a sold unit. Even to go fuel it should be 5 miles tops. Hopefully it is something simple. I’m not having a brand new Jeep that has had motor work done. Ugh.

The dealer has to drive it for the dealer prep/inspection... I picked mine up with 24 miles on it.

I hope you get it sorted, good luck.

That makes me feel much better. Thank you!
Also they are driven around a lot during the shipping stage. From my understanding they are constantly moving them around massive holding lots which alone can be 5+ miles of driving. I think mine also was at about 15 miles when I picked it up new.

Okay, 14 miles is pretty standard. They have to test the vehicles off assembly, then shipping / logistics adds some miles, dealer intake inspection and prep. Mine had exactly that on the clock at delivery. I think that's the best option. I had a 20A 2023 Rubicon 4xe just a few months ago. I was doing my usual maintenance inspection prep for winter and noticed a wet transmission. Immediately went to dealer, left with 392... I understand your feeling. I attached a picture of them side by side at my house when I was taking everything off the 4xe... Anyway good luck 👍 keep us posted.

@pawj112 Mine had 27 miles when I took the ownership back in March 2022. Mine was the first 392 XR in the dealership, I'm not surprised if they guys took it for a spin and had some fun.

If one dealership doesn't or can't diagnose the issue and explain well to you, take it to another. The white/blue smoke happened to many Dodge charger/challenger 392s. You might also want to do some homework and check out some discussions in those forums.

Unreal. We get this bad ass Jeep and put another 25 k or more for some and the bottom falls out. Not cool ! We have 4 392’s in our Jeep club, total of 63 jeeps. One battery issue my axel seal and that’s all so far can’t complain. But you didn’t hear much of anything about 04,05 And 06 rubicon L j except that everybody wanted one. But I do like my 392 much better 😏
