Hop in any EC and take a 2000 mile trip and let me know how that works out for you......

I spent time testing a Porsche Turbo Taycan for a friend. Fit and finish was light years better than the Tesla. Both have ZERO soul. Cold weather battery usage S U C K S

Comes down to choice......as long as we have a choice....CAFE Standards are a MANDATE...blame anyone about that , that makes you feel good......Ironically, the hardest to obtain Jeep is also the most profitable Jeep .......pipeline of EV production is tremendous with a plethora or new models coming.......yet the EV USA 2023 sales YTD flatlined at 7.5% instead of the mid 20's as projected. EV inventory is at a record level in the USA.....but more is coming....The sky is falling. Ford shuttered their EV truck plant for 6 weeks....then dropped the price $10k due to excessive USA inventory....and is losing $4.5 billion this year alone on EV's,,,,,,,,atta boy....

If you love EV's and they work for you ....great ....buy and enjoy. Freedom of choice.

I'll never buy a pure EV.......ever,ever,ever....Never. My choice.....I'll rebuild my ICE stuff if pushed. Gasoline Stations are not going away in the next 15 -20 years......too many ICE engines in the network for that to happen....

I just hope that we all have the choices available to buy what we want.....but that does not look promising.
For the record, I'm not a fan of mandates forcing it before the tech and infrastructure is there. I'm all for incentives to push the tech and infrastructure along though. The government did the same with building out a network of gas stations 100 years ago.

I just find it weird when people stick their feet in the mud and say they'll never drive an EV. Why? It's a car. If/when EV have better performance, range, and dependability, why not? Somehow even EV's have been made political, it's nuts. We'll have people rebuilding 40 years old outdated cars to own the libs. Cool, I guess.

If you are so fond of the European model, then why not just leave this one to us "knuckle-dragging Neanderthals" and move yourself over there? We'd be better off without your baseless opinions and "screw-you" attitude, but you won't like it as much as you think you will. But you won't, and you know that, but it's easy to pretend that it's better.
Can't the same be said in reverse? If you don't like the direction vehicles are going in the US, why don't you move? I hear Cuba has a lot of vintage rides.

No, the same cannot be said in reverse. I'm not the one championing to change this place... to be more like somewhere else. Somewhere else already exists, and you can go there. Leave this place as it is, for those of us whose ancestors made it, and who like it.

Funny that you'd call out Cuba.... You know a hellhole with many, many government "mandates"... the reason they are stuck with rebuilding vintage cars (those that can afford them, and have permission from the dictatorship).

Not exactly selling your own point. Unless that was a clever troll, in which case; Bravo.

Thankfully this country has progressed from the days of your ancestors. It'll keep progressing long after we're gone too. If that bothers you, in your words, you can just leave.

I hear ya. I respect your view and choice.

I grew up in the muscle car era and earned my bones. I own two twin turbo V8's, one Twin turbo 6 and , hopefully, soon to own the last Hemi Jeep it it is ever built. The Jeep will be over a second slower than my current slowest street ride. Quickest one runs low 8's at 174mph and has gone 184mph spinning on street legal tires. Slowest goes 11.1 at 120mph. The Jeep will be a hoot to drive with the Hemi sound. Raced against a bunch of Hemi's but never owned one. I thrive on visceral . The EV acceleration that I have tested is very linear at the launch and then drops off....they can be very fast like the Plaid or sorta fast like the Turbo S Porsche that I drove at 10.4 at 12xmph.....but they do not "feel" visceral or have much sound.....

It's not political with me....I have never contributed to any political campaign......politicians are politicians...keep your distance.

My choice.....which is dinosaurian........is fast, loud,,,,,and fast...and visceral.....

My fault, it's political for so many so I judged when I shouldn't have.

Agree the lack of sound sucks, I have a 392 for a reason. I love it. But like I said earlier, it's just a vehicle. It's not a huge deal to me. I have a TJ that's slow as shit and doesn't have much sound and I love it too. I'll eventually have an EV, I think. Not yet, but probably at some point.

You spelled regressed wrong. There is nothing progressive about undoing a couple hundred years of actual progress to try and re-implement ideas that have failed over, and over, and over again since WWI.

Or even earlier longer than that:

Yea I'm over this conversation. If you want to go back to the 1850's or 1900's, that kinda says a lot bc those times weren't so great for a lot of people.

Really? How about you step down off that high horse.

Your statements above are exactly the same.... just your opinion that you've hyperbolized. No more and no less. Pot, kettle. Kettle, pot.

And to answer your question, although it was not posed to me:

Yes, I've thought about it. Yes I can articulate it, and I can give examples of our own government when we were better off.

Pretty much everything you've espoused above can be refuted... easily. The bottom line is that the government has mandated what manufacturers can and cannot make, and that directly affects our choices.

If you are so fond of the European model, then why not just leave this one to us "knuckle-dragging Neanderthals" and move yourself over there? I knew we’d reach peak ignorance as soon as someone suggested I move to Europe. I’m quite comfortable right here, thanks. It’s just as much my country as it is yours. Fortunately, I don’t have to live my life arming up in a bunker somewhere in fear like the less educated in this country do whose poor understanding of history has become a baseless religion for them. Sadly, you’re the one who’s a prisoner, my friend. Of your own mind.

Quite finished with this thread and probably this forum. Too many dipshits on what’s supposed to be a forum about a car.

Such a statement is nothing but loaded language with no real meaning. All it does it express some emotion you have about government. Have you thought about it? Can you write me an essay about how our government has over reached more than other governments that are better off than ours? or cite me a study showing how better governments in other countries yielded a better result? All you are doing is expressing some obscure frustration you have about government doing something you disagree with, and hyperbolizing it into an infringement on your freedom, when in reality there is no such thing going on here. This is the kind of talk you should save for buddies on arfcom, not a Jeep forum.
I would reply with full responses if it wasn't a waste of my time. It is clear that you think very highly of yourself. You certainly have all of the dipshit answers. As You already mentioned this forum may not be for you.
