  1. I just received my NoLimitz from Amazon and I'm struggling with updating the firmware. Do I actually need to? I only plan on using the MDS deactivation, so I should be good to go right out of the box - right?
  2. I installed a remote starter on my previous JL and the installation is very similar with two connections: behind the HVAC panel (a fairly simple removel using plastic pry tools) and behind the glovebox. But, on a 24 or newer, there is quite a bit of prying/unscrewing. Has anyone tackled the newer verson? If so, is it fairly easy? Any tips?

Mds disable will work with the older firmware. I bought one from Amazon recently too, could not get the firmware updated even after a week of troubleshooting with z automotive. I ended up returning it. It worked to disable mds but did not have any of the newer advertised features or the steering wheel menu controls. Nothing z automotive or I tried would work to update the firmware. We tried multiple pc's, USB cables and software installs. They offered me the option to send it to them for a fix or replacement (shipping on my dime) but after the frustration I just returned it to Amazon for a refund. I was interested in some of the newer features more than the mds disable.

I’m still running the original firmware and it works just fine.

That's what I was hoping to hear. On items like these I very seldom pull them out and update them after initial installation. And...I'm assuming that the ones bought from Amazon turn over quickly and are likely to be shipped with something very close to the latest firmware version already.

I too am running original firmware. No issues. Plug and play, no fuss.
To keep mine from loosely hanging behind the glovebox, I put Velcro on the nolimitz and attached it to a spot where I can get to it if needed but is secure.

Winston, I see your Jeep is a 2024, presumably with the (slightly, I hope) more complicated install. Please elaborate on the difficulty of removing/reinstalling the right-side dash. As I mentioned, I've pulled the HVAC panel on a 2021 and it was an easy pry tool effort, but this disassembly step on newer models is unknown to me. Any learnings you'd care to share? TIA.

There is a thread where a member described a power drain from an older No Limitz unit. When the software was updated, the problem went away. Not sure what release versions were involved.
