Just got a message from a dealer. Tried to order a 392 with XR package and it’s evidently no longer an option. Anyone have any more information about this? Sucks if true…

I find that hard to believe given they have been expanding XR packages to other models. Who knows though..... have heard anecdotally that XR slows build process. Maybe they are having supply problems.

I would agree that that would be surprising given that they recently announced the new High Tide edition with that package, but a temporary stoppage due to supply chain problems is fairly likely.

Yep...that is what I was told by the dealership when I was considering ordering the 392XR earlier last week. He mentioned supply-chain issues.

If true, this may explain why many of our 392 XR orders appear to be continuing piles of parts in "D" Status while other orders are being picked up even if placed after our orders. The confusing part of course is the scheduling/production of XR orders placed after earlier orders. There are only so many options on these vehicles so it's hard to believe that Gorrila Glass, the Rail Management System in the back storage area, trail cam, etc. would be delaying matters.

There doesn't appear to be any logic at all. I ordered XR on 10/28 with every option except soft touch and dual doors. Still in D while I've seen numerous orders placed weeks after mine at same dealer go into D1. Jeep sent me an email with VIN thanking me for order and that they are trying to schedule ASAP but that is it.... Jeep chat just says gathering parts. So I know Jeep has order...

Jeep did the same thing for a bit towards the end of the MY’21 order deadline. It’s just a sign of the times - supply chain issues and all that nonsense. If true, it’ll open up again. Jeep does it to keep production rolling… if too high a percentage of ordered are XR and supply on XR components are limited, they will push buyers to not choosing the option…

The old “you can’t get that right now, BUT….”

Yeah, I figured. I ordered a non-XR today. If it comes back out, I’ll reconsider, but now I won’t feel bad for buying the set of AEV Saltas I’ve wanted since I had my first JK. Excited either way!

I work at a Jeep dealership in Texas. I checked to see if it was available to order for the 392. As of now it is not. I reached out to one of my manufacture contacts. He stated because they have more volume on the non 392 Rubicon. They are focusing on saving parts for those. Personally I'm hoping it's just a temporary move.

I ordered a 2022 392 XR for myself on Nov. 1st. Still In D status. One definitely needs to be patient right now when ordering vehicles.

We were just finishing up our order and getting ready to finalize, was told that at 11 am. No More Recon. I could not believe it...
If anyone knows a dealer that knows of one coming in on Transit. Very interested.

guess another reason i can be glad i just searched until I found one on a lot for a reasonable price
I did the same thing. I had a 2022 on order, but found a 2021. There was a market adjustment in my area on both, but it was a wash given the 2022 prices increased.

Where are you located ?

Ordered mine last week and according to my dealer today, it was accepted by Jeep so hopefully I slid in just in time.

Same situation here. Ordered last week with XR. Dealer says all good. I have a POC with VIN and VON assigned.

This is not gonna be popular but I totally get why Jeep did it. The 392 doesn’t need the XR package as much as the other engines. It already has the HD axles. It has fox shocks and ends up with the same amount of lift. 4.56 is not needed for 35s with the 392. Somehow the 392 needed a reinforced frame and the fox shocks in the stock version, but throw on 35s and now it can run the same shocks as all other engines?

So what Jeep did to preserve parts for other engine levels I totally agree with... you can put 35s and a hinge reinforcement on a 392 leave the fox shocks and the 3.73s And you are just as well off as a 392 XR.

I would think that if you got your order in that you are good from my limited understanding of how Jeep operates. They say if you get a VIN that it is going to be built.

No XR would not be a deal breaker for me. I do like the gears. They are a little short for 35's but would be just about perfect for 37's. I'm getting 13 mpg in my XR and I really like the way it drives. I bought it mainly for convenience. If I was doing it myself, I'd get the dirty life dt-1 wheels, teraflex hinge reinforcement and have the gears done at a local shop. I did it for convenience mostly. Also to have the gears under warranty. The shop that did my 4.56's on my JK set backlash wrong on the front end and ended up toasting the gears after 10k miles or so and had have them re done. If XR does not come back for the 392, will make our XR's even more exclusive, but still sucks.

Supply chain issues and difficulty finding decent workers have likely caused most of these problems.
