The single best upgrade that can be done on these 392's is replacing the front dash speakers. The best sounding and fitting speakers I have found are the Infinity Reference 3032 speakers. They are 3-ohm drivers with an integrated tweeter and truly sound amazing. The best part is they are $50 for the pair on Amazon. 
(You do have to clip the mounting tabs a little on the new speakers for them to fit).
If you don't want to cut and splice the wires, you can also purchase this adapter kit that makes it totally plug and play. However, be warned, the last set I purchased (for a friend), the polarity on the wires was backwards. So I had to remove the pins and change positions (takes all of 10 seconds).
This is the best $60 you can spend for upgrades. Total install time is less than 10 minutes. Pop the grills, two screws, install new speakers, two screws and push the grill back on.
