Some of the colors look fine w/ black fenders - but I'm not so sure about Firecracker Red. Has anyone successfully wrapped MIB fenders, or do I need to pursue painting them if I want them body color? There is a 3M Wrap; 2080 Dragon Fire Red that appears to be a good match... but won't know for sure until the vehicle is here.

Thanks in advance for any insights...

Well, crap. Feedback from that list strongly suggests that the pebbled finish of the black fenders don't hold wrap well. They suggest that the only real option is to pull and paint the fenders for best results. Will discuss w/ a couple of local shops and see what they think.

Or keep an eye out for painted rubicon fenders in the classifieds on any of the Jeep forums.

Drachenfels, I think Robr651 suggestion is your best bet for something reasonably priced. There is always someone pulling their painted fenders for aftermarket ones.
I friend of mine had a Willy and wanted them wrapped or painted to match the body colors.

He took it to probably the best wrap shop in ABQ (which just happens to be at the Porsche dealership) and was told no because of the texture and that the wrap would never properly adhere and seal as it should. A paint shop said they could us an adhesion promoter and paint them which would work but the texture should show through (which would look crappy) and in the long term might have issues with peeling.

I see painted fenders listed on ebay all the time and they also pop up on craigs list, either way its not going to be cheap.
Here's a link to a company that provides turn key painted in your factory color and probably your best bet if you want pristine fenders, the stuff off ebay and craigs list will probably require some body work.

Pinged them - they don't carry fenders/fender flares for our 392s. /frown

If you have any plans on modding it in the future I would look at just replacing the flares and inners. There are several that have a similar look to the OEM flares if that’s what you want and you could have painted or powder coated to match. It would probably be less expensive that removing painting and reinstalling the OEM ones. Or possibly go ahead and go ahead and do a chop and just replace the inners.

Also maybe check the forums and FB marketplace as quite often you will see OEM takeoffs painted for sale where people have gone aftermarket. That’s what I did with mine
