I found the ability in the menus an option to disable the paddle shifters (can't remember if it is part of regular menu or with the Tazer) and I never thought I would say it but I am thinking about disabling them. Here's the story:

I was making a left turn at an intersection with no light that I usually avoid in heavy traffic conditions. I pulled out knowing the 392 could get me in no problem whatsoever. I pulled out and gave it plenty of throttle, not all the way to the floor. I accelerated quickly and got right in where I wanted then suddenly the engine cut out and had no power. I looked down and I was in M1 gear and had hit the rev limiter. I quickly upshifted and kept going but I did take my engine to redline and had the computer save from over revving. I somehow had tapped a paddle to put it in M mode without knowing it. The paddle switches are nice to have but I don't want to do this again.

Good to know… I’ve done the same in the Supra. At least the option is there to disable it non-permanently.

Same thing happened on my Grand Cherokee Summit years ago and I engaged the paddle shifter accidentally on a busy one-lane road.

I’ll say do t worry about that. Hood the upshift paddle for two seconds and it’ll switch back to auto mode. That only happened once in the past 7 years in my case.

I've had the same thing happen on my Grand Cherokee a few times. Personally, I don't like paddle shifters and rarely if ever use them. I'll probably use the stick shifter if I want to play around in manual mode.

Happened to me just after break in a couple of times. Pretty dramatic actually. But like anything else you learn where they are and to unconsciously avoid them. I’ll occasionally shift into manual just using the paddles then shift right out by holding the right paddle for a second…going up hills etc.

I like the paddles.
Had them in the GC SRT as well.
BMW had them, and the Mini.
It dies take some time to acclimate to them being there and not bumping them.

I just did the same thing @Viking Jeeper when I was fiddling with the radio buttons on the back of the steering wheel. Thought I was changing channels on SXM and I ended up changing gears. That'll get your attention!

Same thing happened to me twice this week and odd enough I didn't even touch any of the paddle shifters. I was waiting at the red light, fully stopped with D1 showing. Once the light turned green, I hit the throttle a bit since it's still in break in period. Then followed by the high rev sound and I looked down it was M1. How could this happen?

You probably accidentally hit your paddle. Several of us on the forum have discussed this but all of us figured we hit the paddle. Volume right underneath it on right, skip just underneath on left. They are pretty sensitive and you can disable them in the settings. It happened to me twice early on but not since

It could be totally my unconscious action. I just don't recall I ever touched that shifter. And it happened twice almost at the same traffic light. I started paying more attention now.

Same but it is quicker to 60 and 100 with the computer shifting, it's more fun to shift though.

Thank you. Yes looks like it could take time and am sure I ll get use to it.
But I just want to remove it because many family members will use it and it is just annoying

Paddles are great if they are responsive enough, but the 392 shifts are too slow using them. So, I disabled them on day 1. They are, like others have mentioned, likely to get activated by family members. Too much drama.

Yes exactly you right.
You go to setting menu and it’s straight foward right ?
Thank you again I appreciate the support
