I did not get the muffler skid. Borla exhaust tucked up better than stock. I never hit my muffler on my jk. Just have to watch departure angles I guess. One question i do have is whether you all think the muffler skid is necessary. Lots of weight with this undercarriage armor so thinking to keep to the areas that are a “must” for now. Chime in. Thank you.

Put it on mine. Next venture has one that seems more stout and covers tips. I added extra brackets on mine some of the mounts on mc skid look a little flimsy imho.My muffler is a skid plate...lol...
I have some drag marks on mine but no dents and no tailpipe injuries.
I bought the muffler skid. At the time there weren’t aftermarket exhausts. I ended up painting my skids black for another layer of protection and I like the look. Might not have been necessary but I figured a couple hundred bucks was worth it. Yeah it’s a little more weight but for a tank it isn’t adding a significant amount ha ha!One question i do have is whether you all think the muffler skid is necessary. Aftermarket exhaust system from Magnaflow costs $3500 give or take after tax. That’s not including labor to install. Not an option for me. 392 is plenty loud. Yes you gain some clearance but cost benefit says to me keep stock setup and run a skid for protection.I bought the muffler skid. At the time there weren’t aftermarket exhausts. I can't get my head around the AWE Cat-back costing almost 1k more for the 392 than the TRX. I had it on my TRX but almost 3k is crazy. The part of the exhaust that got damaged for me was the exhaust tips. After straightening the exhaust tips once, I added the MetalCloak muffler skid and still damaged the exhaust tips again, which is no surprise because MetalCloak's exhaust skid doesn't protect the exhaust tips. I thought the MetalCloak exhaust skid was a waste of time and money. I threw mine away and replaced the stock exhaust with an AWE exhaust when they were on a Black Friday sale. I haven't managed to damage the AWE exhaust. I think you would have to really try to do damage with the much better clearance it provides.
I have seen where people rotate the factory exhaust tips up and hold them in place with clamps to improve clearance there. The part of the exhaust that got damaged for me was the exhaust tips. Any body who has rotated there tips can you post a pic. Did you grind off the pin as clamp or clamps are spot welded to tips. Then grind in a new groove. How about heat on bumper? I can see a few degrees in rotation any thing I guess is betterI have seen where people rotate the factory exhaust tips up and hold them in place with clamps to improve clearance there.
The difference is the included vacuum activated valves that give the 392 exhaust the option for a loud mode, or a really loud mode. I don't think the TRX exhaust includes that.I can't get my head around the AWE Cat-back costing almost 1k more for the 392 than the TRX. I had it on my TRX but almost 3k is crazy.

I haven’t done this yet but they grind the pins off to increase the rotation.Any body who has rotated there tips can you post a pic. Thanks
How is the highway drone with that system?I have removed my factory muffler completely and have installed the Magnaflow Rockcrawler exhaust which was $1300. Prior to that the easiest thing I found was to just remove the exhaust tips when you plan to go off Roading. I and a friend of mine, with another 392, both do the same thing. There is no change in sound, no exhaust fumes and no more dented tips. I think it's the best solution for wine off Roading if you retain the factory muffler
