Magnuson Supercharger Ordered.

I saw Whipple has one out too now. I'd like to have one installed on mine, but really concerned about reliability. I keep reading that the 392 Hemi doesn't take well to supercharging.
You should be ok up to 40k miles (ie: do it before then) with minimal boost.

The 392 motor does not have forged pistons or piston ring gaps to support “hellcat boost”. 5 psi or lower seems to be ok based on what a lot of scat pack guys have said.

Lot of people talk against it because of the cost “into hellcat territory” but this isn’t a hellcat nor is there one, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the OP says. Tons of gladiator guys supercharged their 3.6 v6 and seemingly didn’t have issues for an engine absolutely not designed for boost, just an example.

Should be very cool. Will look forward to reports on drive ability and dependability as well as performance

It’s all going to come down to the tune and his main purpose for it. Summer time heat temperatures will tell the tell of how well it performs and drivability. Definitely hope it all works out 🤞🏻

5 LBS of Boost
I got it ordered. Let's see how it preforms.
From preform to deform... :ROFLMAO:

Hope it does very well for you and no issues at all brother...I ran Magnuson on my 3.8 for years and 80,000 trouble free miles...

I ran my 3.6 boosted to 6+ pro for about 10 years... I had issues with the tuning, but not the mechanical of the engine. Unless you count the time it injected water and hydrolocked it to death. Which was partially the superchargers fault.

After playing in some foot deep floodwaters, unbeknownst to me a fair amount of water was drawn in through the air filter a little at a time, pooling up inside the intercooler.

Then, when giving it the beans on perfectly dry land, the airflow through the intercooler pulled a slug of the collected water into the engine, and it spit parts onto the road....

Hardly the fault of boosting it a little though and otherwise I had 30k+ miles of trouble free driving.

Not sure I'll do my 392, but I'm interested t see how it goes, good luck.

Im interested in this as well. But, whats going to make the difference with it is the tune. In my prior experience with bolt on forced induction kits, the tune it comes with aren't that great. Finding a tuner or enthusiast that knows the platform will make all the difference.

These guys are an example:

They even mention they settled at 4.5 PSI of boost in the description.

I don't want to hi jack this thread. But I keep hearing mentions of "just get a hellcat". Knowing this kit runs you 10k and install, with tune, etc will prob run somewhere 15k all in. How much does it cost to get a hellcat dropped in with a 392 core trade and who even does it besides AMW?

Rubitrux also do Hellcat swaps and no they’re not anywhere close to $10k-$15k

IMHO, gaining 100 WHP with a supercharger on a STOCK 6.4L and a mild tune for 15k turn key is worth it. I think many people say get a hellcat motor because they are calculating what it would cost to forge the internals of the 392, plus blower kit, plus tune/labor.

42k and some change to do a hellcat swap is what I’ve been quoted. This is how I see it…”if” you can find someone who is knowledgeable enough to do the swap without the liability of you purchasing the motor through another source that’s the only way you can get out of it cheaper. There is an abundance of hellcat crate motors out there with companies pushing to get them out. Labor and profit margins make everything expensive for our 392 Hemi.

Looking forward to seeing the results! Are you doing anything to the internals? Or leaving stock?
Magnuson said the internals are fine with 5 LBS of boost. They actually warrenty it for 36,000 Miles. So that is damn good

Both. They warrenty the blower and drivetrain.

They are saying if you go over 5 LBS of boost they internals need to be upgraded.

This is a very good warranty especially if vehicle is new.
