I finally got around to installing my LP6 takeoffs from my Gladiator. I had previously tapped the the headlight wiring for the backlighting, but wanted to try another approach on the 392. I want my LP6 backlight to come on with the daytime running lights or any time the headlights are on.

I've run the wiring to the first Aux switch wire for the main lamps, but I wanted to avoid tapping headlight or running lights for the backlight. Does anyone know of a fuse location I can piggyback that supports .3 A? If not, I'l just tap the lighting.

Backlight Wattage (W)4.14
Backlight Amperage Rating (A)0.3

Thanks!
Mike

Mike,
You stated, "I want my LP6 backlight to come on with the daytime running lights or any time the headlights are on.” Doesn’t that roughly equate to having the backlight(s) on whenever the ignition is on? If so, couldn’t you just connect the backlights to one of the Aux switches and configure it to be “ON” anytime the ignition is on?

I used a fuse tap, thought it was F32. Possibly the cigarette lighter since it was unused. I can confirm later when home if needed.

Oh, right. That seems obvious ….now.
thanks Chris

It was a brain teaser at first. I had to recall how I configured my LP4s, particularly the backlight wires, then I reread the paragraph in the Owner’s Manual about configuring the Aux Switches (see photo). I hope it works for you. One caveat: Check your state’s DOT regulations, if you’re concerned about violating one of their rules regarding lighting.

I picked up a DRL Wiring Harness from Quadratec, that made this super easy.

You plug it into the wiring that runs under the fender. It was plug and play.

This may be what you are looking for as my LP6 Backlight runs all the time.

Sorry for up an old thread but could you please confirm? I don’t want to tie up and aux switch that I will always leave on or tap into a wire (not sure which one) under the fender. The quadratic adapter would be a go but has not been in stock for a while.

You can tap the DRL wire at the headlights if you don't want to burn an AUX switch on this

Sorry for the misinformation. I just checked and I used F52. It shows that it is for the cigarette lighter which I do not have. My aux switches are all taken.
