Love My 24 but

I think it is obvious they changed something and NOT for the better. The MPG on the sticker is also lower.
I would think the MPG change is because of the bigger tires and axle gear change. I think my new 2024 is a little quieter that the 2023 I had. It also feels to be more solid, but that could be because the 24 was new with 15 miles and the 23 had 4,100 miles on it when I got it.

I have a 23 and a 24. You might be right about the mpg. The sticker on the 23 might not have taken the xr package into account. I also agree that the 24 is more planted than the 23. I feel like I could roll the 23 over and the 24 just goes around a corner.

Interesting that the '24s are louder. My '22 doesn't have a "drone", even with the AWE exhaust, whether it is in quiet or loud mode. It can make some pops and burbles on deceration, but nothing I would call a "drone". Maybe change to an AWE exhaust to quiet down those '24s, LOL.

Are you guys just hearing the different sound of the exhaust when the engine switches to 4 cylinder mode (which it does on deceleration)? Because these 392s definitely sounds worse in 4 cyl mode. Try putting it in Off-Road + mode, which should prevent it from switching to 4 cylinder mode. If that stops the "drone" it may tell you what is causing it.

A real JEEP 392 Owner changes exhaust anyhow. Time to man up boys. GET you a good CAT BACK.
I put Magna FLOW Crawler. I never wanted it quiet so thats what I went with. I got a couple friends that put the BORLA also they said it's bad ass.

You missed the point. Why are the 24 model year doing something the earlier model years aren't doing? The drone on my 23 is like dropping a peanut on your foot. It is their but you have to listen for it. No big deal. The 24 is like dropping a bowling ball on you Foot!! You cant miss it unless your deaf or the radio is full blast.

I have a drawer that fills the space in back of the rear seats covered In trunk carpeting and filled with gear my Jeep (23) I think it has a nice tone. That said this week I rode in front and in back of a friends 21 no box in back limited gear most of the trip was off road I thought the 21 was much louder than my 23 almost too loud sitting in the back. Both Jeeps are stock. Need more 24 Jeep owners input my 2 cents. maybe Jeep went on the cheep with sound deadening material on the 24’s or on yours by mistake ?

Yeah I thought there might be something wrong with my 24, but others seam to have the same problem. I think the resonator is bad.

They sort of change the '24's a bit didn't they? Different axels, entertainment system, etc?

I have a '24 and have a little drone but nothing I wouldn't have expected for a "performance" jeep. I'd actually be a bit disappointed if it didn't have that. Not a DD if that makes a difference, but long trips have been fine.

Turn the radio up maybe?

My 24 drones with performance exhaust on (open). Doesn’t matter if offroad sport+ is on or not. It’s only on decell under 2k rpm. It’s pretty loud that you can’t talk to passengers or on the phone.

When I turn performance exhaust off…no drone and exhaust is super quiet.

I agree. My 24 is louder than my past 22. Steering feels tight too. And I’m showing worse gas mileage. 9 mpg WTH..🤔
Those all sound like improvements except the gas mileage. But I'm only getting 10-11 around the city anyway. And that's easy driving.

Interestingly enough Motor Trend did a review on the 2024 model and mentioned in cab resonance being an issue:

But the 392 Hemi needs improvement when it attempts to sip fuel by deactivating four cylinders, at which point it produces a booming, mind-numbing resonance through the entire vehicle. It's an easy way to know the deactivation has happened—you feel it in your soul

DRONE UPDATE - NOT GOOD NEWS

Hi,
I have that terrible drone that many 2024 owners are complaining about.

I have tried both the Borla and AWE systems. Although both are excellent products, if your 392 exhibits this very loud drone, neither the Borla or AWE systems will make it any better.

I have complained to Jeep about this. My dealer assessed the drone (very loud and deep bass drone - 83 decibels at 45 Hz - which is blistering anyone's eardrums). The dealer also agreed there is something definitely wrong and this drone should Not be present. The dealer documented in my work order that the drone is "loud and intolerable" after only a 5 min test drive with me in the vehicle. The shop foreman even reported that the drone gave him a headache after 5 min in the vehicle and this is definitely a problem.

I have spend a lot of time communicating with customer service at Jeep Cares. They tell me that they have explained the problem to the engineers at Jeep. They claim the engineers at Jeep have "engineered" that specific drone to be there, and there is no fault with the vehicle.

If you can believe it, I am being told by Jeep that our 392s have been specifically engineered to exhibit that same horrible drone that the dealer has officially documented as "loud and intolerable". The same drone that 100% of people who ride in my Jeep also cannot tolerate.

Jeep/FCA needs to do something about this problem for the affected vehicle, instead of ignoring it.

The drone alone ruins the Jeep experience, it's that bad.

Interesting. My 22 and 24 are both loud. That’s why I love them. All my vehicles are v8’s.. maybe I’m going def. Or just like v8’s. If I want quiet, I’ll drive my wife’s Bronco..😳🫡🇺🇸

Loud is what we want, and why we bought these V8 Wranglers (y)

But, there’s good loud, and then there’s loud drone. Actually, the true exhaust tone of the stock exhaust (minus the drone) is not that loud at all, even at WOT.

Also none of my other loud V8 vehicles have any problems with drone, none.

How were you able to test drive this Jeep and not notice it then? Why did you buy it in the first place if you cannot tolerate the normal sound of a V8 engine?

The test drive was with a 2023 from the dealer. The drone problem was not an issue, at all.
There is something different with the 2024s. I have other V8 engines, actually louder, but do not have this drone problem. Again, the dealer's shop foreman confirmed this is definitely not normal, and intolerable. Jeep says its designed to drone like this....If yours is not affected, consider yourself fortunate.

hmm, I have a 2024 and it's fine for me. I get drone under specific circumstances ie exhaust open and decelerating at certain speeds but not enough to bother me

I get drone with open or closed exhaust, on decel, from 2000rpm down to about 1500rpm......spectrum analyzer shows 47 Hz (super low frequency) @ 83 Decibels (loud). Same thing if cruising at 2000 rpm, so I have to shift gears to get out of the drone zone.

Not sure if you're reaching 83 decibels in that very low frequency range. It's bad enough that even the shop foreman at the dealer documented it as "loud and intolerable". He was waiting for Jeep to provide a fix before "throwing parts at it", but Jeep says is supposed to drone loud like that. Again, there is a difference between true (good) exhaust tone, and cabin resonating low frequency drone (bad).

Again, your vehicle may be not affected like mine and several others who have posted....

I had a 22 and now have a 24 and there is no difference between the two as far as the exhaust note. I think my 24 is actually a little quieter inside from an exhaust and wind noise perspective when going down the highway.
