Jeep Markets Factory Wheels as Beadlock Capable - What does that even mean?

That ring is there to protect the rim from damage, kind of a sacrificial lamb so to speak. If you remove it you could damage the beadlock flange which would be worse than a few scratches, beat them up enough and you could buy another set for show and one for trail use. Some of the dual tek wheels out there have plastic trim rings and some are metal.

Good point, I was thinking if the rim got messed up the ring could be re-installed to cover it but was not thinking of protecting the lock flange.

To anyone who knows the answers.

- Can I use the metal “beauty ring” as the real bead lock ring and mount the tires between the ring and the inner flange of the rim?

- Are the stock rings equivalent to the mopar functional bead lock ring https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-functional-bead-lock-ring-kit-p5160154 ?
1. No you can’t do that. For one there are not enough bolts to secure the bead, and those hex bolts would be a giant pain in the ass to torque on a regular basis. You’d spend more time drilling out broken bolts than it’s worth.

2. The stock rings are not equivalent to that part number. That part makes your wheel the functional beadlock. If you remove the beauty ring (I prefer Rash Ring) from the stock wheel, you will find it has more holes on the inner wheel to support a functional beadlock ring similar to the one you have listed - I’m not 100% that’s the exact part number but it’s on that website because I’ve seen it.

Got it. Thanks a lot for the precise answers!

Hey just curious if any one has been successful at converting the 392 Wheels to beadlocks? I was looking at Mopar's website and trying to figure out if part P5160154 is what is needed.

Seems like it might be, but I am not sure our wheel has that many bolts around it. Has anyone taken off the trim ring on the Stock Wheels to inspect what is behind it; or do you know what Mopar part is needed?
The replacement trim rings are pricey. I’ll be making some black delrin ones on a CNC….A link to the whole wheel assy here…https://www.mopargenuineparts.com/s...MIs_zy2J6Y9QIVqxNMCh1FWgyIEAQYFyABEgL2qvD_BwE

Very interesting, looking at the pictures that folks posted on this forum, I noticed that the stock bead lock rings on the non-XR-392 are different from the ones on XR:

Here are pictures of Dirty Life Dualtec wheels which use the same style of beadlock trim rings and an addition true beadlock ring.

.
Rims are different also. Maybe the width is not the only difference…
