So heard back from my dealer (and it wasn’t with a delivery date sadly :( ) regarding a ping I sent last week.
Last week after the High Velocity announcement, I asked ”what if?”
So today the Southwest Regional Rep chimed in and said he could do the change order… BUT there is a chance it could push it out further. I’ve waited this long, so if I really want High Velocity, I’d make it through the wait (with my support system on here, of course!)

So, here I sit torn: I absolutely LOVE Sting Gray. I’d be more than happy with that. But I’m also one to not be the norm. I would’ve gone Gecko had I known the ONE day you could have actually ordered one. Almost went Tuscadero but decided it was way too pink for me. So, High Velocity could be the one. I like the “green hued” yellow in the press rendering BUT we don’t know exactly what it will actually look like.

So, anyone want to weigh in? Go for being not a run of the mill color? Go for the color that blends in when I inevitably floor it and piss off other drivers? I’m really stuck right smack dab in the middle… need someone to sway me. Either way. Anyone?

I had to stare at the photo for a few minutes before throwing in my 2 cents. Color is always the hardest decision for me.
I think that color screams some sort of special edition, making it a good fit for the 392. You will definitely stand out! However, I'm a big fan of Sting Gray though! I'm hoping they make that color available on the RAM TRX next year.

I like to stand out as well, but I don't want to get tired of the color either. I just went on the Jeep site trying to see other views of this yellow color, and don't see it. I did see a post earlier on the yellow color and did not like it. But the photo here on the beach looks good. I bought the Snazzberry sight unseen, but I'd watched a number of you tube videos with Snazz so I was comfortable with how it looked in different light conditions. It's a personal choice, and you can't go too far wrong.

Hmmmm...

Well as far as what it looks like I think these are photos:

As far as which one to go with.... print a color photo of each and put one up on the door to the garage, give it a day, then swap. Whichever one your gut tells you would make you happy opening that door, go with that one. Then don't give it a second thought. For me the color is all about: "Wow, I can't believe I own that. Let's go for a drive"
And if it takes longer we'll be here to wait it out. ;)(y)

I was having a hard time deciding between three colors, sting gray was one of them. I asked my wife. She scrolled through the colors and after 30 seconds said, "Sarge Green." She walked away. I picked it and I'm very happy with it.

I love sting gray, it is classy and refined. High Velocity is fun and daring. I personally like classy and refined, but nothing wrong at all with fun and daring.

How on earth is it that your order is still that far away from production?

Seems crazy given that you placed it sometime last fall if I recall correctly.

And assuming you didn’t order an XR, I second the vote for the yellow!

It was super tough to me as well. Even though my 392 is already on the way to the dealer I‘m still not sure whether I picked the right color. Here was my thinking:
black - looks great but Jeeps and basically all cars tend to look older in black
granite - cool but boring
sting grey - looks great with bronze accents but 90% cars are grey nowadays - boring
silver - boring
hydro blue - looks fantastic once new but may not age that great
tuscaroro - well, it’s pink lol
snazzy - cool when new, but doesn’t age well
sarge - nah, it’s not a military Jeep
white - looks like a rental
red - all time classic, looks great on pics, but kinda standard color
:ROFLMAO:
Firecracker it is 🤷🏼‍♂️

Wow. Not making it any easier for me, are you?

Not a huge fan of the yellow on the production pics. Not bad, but not quite like the renderings. Although it does look like it was taken right off the line in the plant, so lighting is in play….

One site described it as this:
”The shade toes the line between neon yellow and lime green and also features an almost metallic-like finish.”

That‘s what I want! Not some plain Jane yellow…
but again, probably based on renderings…

First date of ‘22 orders… October 8th (which was 11 months after initial order of November 20th, 2020! :cautious: )

But yes, ordered the XR… from what I can tell, it’s been the cargo rail system keeping production from starting - just based on a few others’ posts…

Strange though… I ordered my XR in August with most every option (Gorilla glass, Trail Rail, One-touch, etc.) and took delivery in mid-December. The only thing missing from my order was the all-weather floor mats, which I still haven’t received.

If you ordered an XR (and still want one - as a 392 XR may have just become much more collectible) it seems to me like your choice has recently been made easier. If you switch to the yellow, you likely won’t end up getting the XR will you or will they somehow couple the “old” XR order with the newly-available yellow color if you choose to go with it?

You can always order the cargo rail system after you get your 392. It’s not hard to install. Consider cancelling it off and get production moving. Order the rail system in the Mopar parts site or your dealer, I wouldn’t let that hold things up.

I totally agree. A bird in the hand as they say…

Just like they suddenly stopped allowing the XR option with the 392, I fully expect that one day, without any warning, Jeep will halt the 392 order option altogether. If you think about it, if they were to give a specific date as to when 392 production would stop, countless people would order them with plans of simply reselling them for profit once production stops knowing full well that they would never have to pay for them (or at least not more than a payment or two until they were able to sell them).

I have no knowledge on the matter (I work in healthcare), but I would doubt that the 392 sees the 2023 model year given the way the political winds are blowing and with multiple manufactures stating that they plan to be “fully electric“ by the end of this decade.

In addition, if you simply look to the competition, Ford is turning 35” tires with much smaller engines and selling every Bronco they can make (and even ones they can’t make)! My guess is that Jeep will continue to offer the XR package to compete with the Sasquatch package, but do away with the 392 sometime this model year.

How many days was the new color available while xr was still an option. I would think rarity alone would decide for me if I was able to get this combo now I would.

@YukonCornelius - I was extremely lucky enough to find the color that I ended up with...Sting Gray. I think asking the community on here is a great idea as you're going to get all kinds of input...some good/some bad. That's the beauty of a forum with members who are passionate about their vehicles. At the end of the day, however, the decision is ultimately yours and you are going to have to be happy with it...or not. I don't personally know you, but you seem to provide excellent input on your threads and posts, so I have no doubt you'll be happy with whatever you decide.

FYI - not a fan of yellow (greenish yellow, fluorescent yellow, etc.) vehicles, but that's just my $.02 cents.

Good luck!

Tim
