It seems I have been changing oil since the beginning of time and over the years I have come up with creative to do this with a minimum of mess and cleanup.
We all know how much wonderful messy fun it is getting to and changing the oil filter is on a 392. So here's a few tips and tricks of how to do it without making a mess out of the frame and associated stuff that seems to get coated removing the filter. I will not insult anyone on how to remove a oil pan drain plug and draining that, so moving on. If you are doing an initial change it is handy if you have an oil filter "B" cup which makes it easy to remove when you have the following in place.
Now, get yourself some tin foil (you know the stuff you use in the kitchen) pull off about 3 feet of it and fold it into a rectangle about the size of a sheet of paper. Now grab yourself some tape duct tape works wonderful. Now bend the tin foil in to a "V" shape and position it directly below the oil filter. Now attach the foil to the front tie rod. Once that's in place put and extra bit of tape on the foil that hangs down beyond the tie rod. This keeps the oil from wicking back up and allows it to drain nicely down into you drain pan.
Finally after all the oil has drained remove the foil and tape. Wipe down the plastic drain guide and make sure the old filter didn't leave its gasket behind.
Now take your new oil filter and fill it half way full of oil, don't worry its not enough oil to spill out when you re-install the filter. Install the partially filled new oil filter to one full turn after contact and your done. Add 7 1/2 quarts of oil. Now before starting place EVIC on the oil pressure selectorion or watch your gauge screen. Now start slow idle for about 1-2 minutes to allow the oil to cycle through the engine. Now shut down and let it sit on a level surface for about 10 minutes then check the dip stick.

the oil life indicator: place ignition into run mode (no need to start) using EVIC scroll though to oil life page, hold ok for a few seconds, it will reset to 100%
