My name is Ryan Moeller. I live in Yuma, AZ. I have been a Helicopter Mechanic for Customs and Border Protection for almost 5yrs now. I love exploring the back country and I love to hunt. I currently drive a 2015 GMC 2500HD with the 6.0L V8. I'm hoping to get a 392 Rubicon! Not new by any means.. Haha..

Welcome to the group.
Thanks! I'm hoping to test drive a 2022 392 over in Scottsdale soon. It has 37" tires, but they told me the gearing is stock.. From my research that's 3.73 gears?

If it does not have the XR package the gearing is 3.73. The XR package include 4.56 gears.

That's what I figured.. LOL.. I'd hate to spend that kind of money just to have to dump more into it not much later

Depends on brand of tire. I have 3.73 ( because when ordered Jeep pulled that XR option , thanks Jeep) I run 35 nitto trail grapplers it seems to work well. But if I were to run nitto 38’s it would probably need some lower gears I think 4.56 and 38’ would be fine. I had 5.13 with 35’s on my LJ great gears for rock climbing but slow on the road with that old in-line 6 .

If you're not set on that one, DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT test drive it. 🤣 It's all over from there. The way the prices are nowadays I would definitely say get the XR! It's worth it! I got it thinking it's done, I'll never upgrade to bigger tires. Yeah.....one trip to Moab changed that. I came back home and she was immediately upgraded so Im glad I had the 456 gears!

Moab was AMAZING! Life-changing! I hope to go back one day. I live in IL (I know...gross) so it's a 18hr drive for me. We do have some great places 4-6 hours away in MO, KY, TN. But out west, that was a whole new experience! Just wait till you drive one of these bad boys offroad, they are absolutely beasts. I feel sorry for those owners that let them sit in the garage. They are missing out.
🤣🤦🏽‍♀️ Yes, its a double middle finger duck. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have to agree with @BadPrincess_392 with regards to the XR package so you are not having to re-gear. Also, you get the beadlock capable wheels and some other options in that package. Stick to a Certified Pre Owned (CPO) unit if you can to get the extended warranty included from Jeep.

The base 392 (Non XR) also has beadlock capable wheels.
