I've had a constant ticking noise in my engine since I took delivery of my new 2024 Jeep 392. I've listened to numerous YouTube videos and read discussions from other owners to convince myself it's just 'normal Hemi noise.' The Jeep otherwise drives perfectly—no misfires, rough idle, power loss, or other issues.
A while back, I had the opportunity to compare my engine sound to another 392, and theirs had no ticking at all. That prompted me to take it to the dealer about a year ago. In the noisy service waiting area, it was hard to isolate the sound, but I specifically asked the technician to use a mechanic's stethoscope to check it out. They said they did and declared it normal.
But in my mind I never really accepted their answer. This weekend, I recorded the ticking clearly and played the audio for my service advisor. He finally acknowledged hearing it. I then received this update from him: 'The technician has confirmed the noise is coming from the driver-side cylinder head and is definitely internal. Our next step is to perform a teardown to identify the point of failure.'
Has anyone here experienced something similar—especially on a newer 392? What was the outcome of the teardown/repair? Was it lifters, cam damage, something else? Any advice on what to expect or questions I should ask the dealer? Thanks in advance.
